I Love Gentoo
DoctorMO (Keeper of the Computer, Guru, Community Artist) Started conversation Mar 9, 2003
I must admit, that after a number of experances with Linux, I thought I was going to have to throw my PC away and get a Mac. I just coun't get the thing to work properly.
I was introduced to Gentoo, it's one of the hardest things to install I've ever had to do, BUT it was liberating, even the problems I had at the start with my eth cards being screwd in the modprobe thingy. I got over it, found out some very usefull information about how to use linux in a consol and I'm not going to look back, YES!
OK, so it takes time to install, but I belive that it was worth it, because I now have a system thats as solid as a rock, and fast as a falling rock
I'm going to install a few more things, check and see it I can get my scroll wheel to work, and (the bit that no other Distro could do) see if my nVidia Riva TNT2 M64 cards 3D acceloration works... I do hope so, in fact it may already work, because I had to install the nvidia kernel and glx to get X windows to work...
