Just as my Birthday come a looming, I find my PC dieing of what can only be described as a failure of Motherboard CPU, interaction and I for one have suffered from one of the worst pains imaginable, withdrawal.

Damb, I have to get back in to H2G2, I should be back in business in a few weeks, if not, I may be found in a mental hospital somewhere in the north west.

Talk to you soon.

GOD Bless pay checks, and mine will be all right by next week, heres hoping the upgrade from a P75Mhz to a 1400Mhz Athlon is worth it. already gone up from 32MB RAM SIMM to 256MB SDRAM So it's been a HUGE jump for me, although I still get the same work done, just a little faster.

smiley - smiley I've got the computer network/ethernet guy coming round friday to sort out my connection, I've given up using my old laptop: there is gradually less and less funcitoning keyboard left on it, and its in dire need of being completely reformated, reinstalling everything and starting afresh.... So I'm going to have to give in and have my new laptop setup on teh system here... Which I origionally didn't want to do cause it only going to be on this connection type thing for a few more months, before I go back to a regular phone line connection.... and leave behind this loverly ISDN thing... (when It works...) smiley - smiley Might upgrade teh new laptop at christmas, as well as getting the old one sorted out as a backup for it.... smiley - wow a 1400 processor!, this old laptop has only a p2 400 and the new one only a p3 750... Both intel i think... or something.... smiley - run

smiley - cool I might get a desk top computer one day; you get so much more processor and memory power for your money... But laptops are just so handy for me... I like the flexibility: If i travel home to my dads for a bit of a restbite from University, I take my laptop and can continue working... Well thats the theory smiley - biggrin I've got my newer of the two laptops set up on the network now, Its strange, now I'm running it on the net, i've noticed teh difference in processor speed between it and my old laptop, the P3 750 is certainly faster smiley - biggrin actually: do you know what kernal 32 is, and why it keeps performing illegal opperations on my laptop[s]? smiley - weird

Kernel 32.dll is basicaly the heart of windows.

if somthing keeps on doing tht you may end up losing work, or worse!

get it fixed, ask some nice person who knows about computers to reinstall windows, or at best get rid of what cousing it.

Hmm, maybe it was that...
Yeah, i hope it improves, its mainly stuff that only happens when I'm on the net, so i generally put it down to server problems, or our strange local area network here at university...

Well, today I paid £10 to the Uni computer people, as i had exceded my bandwidth, or something... Basically i think I have had too much traffic to my laptop via the net which came via the transatlantic thing, so i had to pay extra... Don't quite understand why, but this may improve my connection as it is at the moment, though they won't probably update the details in the system till tomorrow...
Though I've only two weeks left here now, then back to a regular phone line connection I guess, and a modum again rather than a network card... Which i guess will be slower.. Although hopefully more stable a connection, I never seemed to have any problems before when i was using a regular modum connection to the net...

I think it depends on who you go with as a SP.
