Oh, it's terrible. My first night on H2G2, and I can't even work out how to put breaks in paragraphs when using GuideML. I shall doubtless be mocked terribly, scorned, shunned and my article reduced to no more than two words - Bourbon biscuits - because they're the only interesting thing in there.

Never mind. I shall learn in time. As Frankenstein, I am forced to work with an abnormal brain. And look what happened to him - end of the film, half dead and with nothing to look forward to but a marriage to his waif of a wife. But then the sequel...as Colin Clive and Boris Karloff, I too shall return!

Hello there,

It seems we almost have the same trouble, except that I once knew GuideML and now I've forgotten most of it.

You know who I am, I know who you are. Go to my homepage, correct my grammer and don't give the game away.

Your new page doesn't look too bad, to say you've "forgotten" most of GuideML.

The only things I might change were these:

1)I think the correct spelling is "Decimus" (yes, to a classical Latinist this would be pronounced "Deckimus", but Russell Crowe doesn't know any better)
2)"Elysium" is "the Elysian" (a reference to the Elysian Fields of Hades)
3)"Eternity" is not spelt "Eterninty"
4)The "Greek man" in the picture is Daedalus (father of Icarus). The text already there (the drop-down when you rest your mouse over the pic) might just be the coding that came with the picture - but that's no excuse for not naming him.

Stay groovy.

1) I'll change the name, but Russell Crowe didn't write the script.
2) The Elysium I'm aware of, but thanks.
3) I said grammer, not spelling smiley - winkeye.
4) I know it's Daedalus, but the description isn't mine, plus only the uncouth wouldn't know who he wasn't.

I year for more teachings of the Latin subject - I'm quite dissapointed I didn't try to further it smiley - sadface

If a friend of ours recieves email from a "friend" of ours (you'll understand should the time arise), don't say anything.

(I know Russell Crowe didn't write the script - but he used public school Latin pronunciation! "c"s as "s"s and "v"s as...."v"s. Stupid public schools, grumble grumble...)

Your reference to friends and "friends" falls on ignorant ears, I'm afraid. Perhaps I shall know in time.

(It wasn't entirely his fault - no-one else pointed out his mistake either! Just becasue they don't have on-set Latin whizz's like you!) (and it would be "v"s as "w"s surely?)

You shall I can know - I'll email you - it would be good for a second opinion anyway....

Hello,

I'm not sure if you're too bothered, but the quote you have from Gladiator is missing a hefty chunk. I've therefore take the liberty and posted it on my page, along with full version of the other corker from the film. Hope you don't mind too much smiley - winkeye Let me know if you do.

I don't mind at all! I think I've been listening to radio 4 a little too often...there's an impersonation sketch show on it, and to shorten it they only use part of the "Father to a murdered son..." speech. Usually followed by "Me old pal, me old mucker...". They've done the same thing with Hannibal Lecter...

"And you think that if you save Catherine, you can stop the lambs from screaming, don't you Clarice?"
"Yes, Doctor Lecter."
"Yes...but that won't get the pigs in, me old pal, me old beauty," etc. etc.

Perhaps you had to hear it.

Though come to think of it, my favourite line from Gladiator was an exclamatory "You have sold me queer giraffes!!!".
