The book is open
The sky remains blue
I unfold into into springtime
And so do you

THE IF OF SLEEP
If I could have anyone, anyone in the world,
Anyone I’ve ever met, or seen, or imagined.
If I could have anyone in the world here with me now…
I wouldn’t.
I would be on my own.
Alone. On my own with just myself.
Lonesome. Not lonely. Alone.
I would be on my own.
If I could see any sight in the world, any vision,
From pictures, or photos, or memory.
If I could have any sight in the entire world before my eyes now…
I wouldn’t.
I would sense colour.
Every colour, never the same. Indescribable alterings.
I would see every colour that has never existed and see nothing more than glows.
If I could hear any sound in the world, any sound of any kind
Music, voices, noises, waves.
If I could hear any sound I’ve ever heard pulsing to fill my head now…
I wouldn’t.
I would listen to silence.
Hear silence. I would breathe a depth of silence, a quiet that’s never been heard. Absolute absence of sound. Solitude.
I would listen to silence.
I sleep. Sweet dreams.

Messy bits muddled my poem, and I've never shown anyone a poem before (boo-hiss)

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
