I'm lazy...

I'll put me hands up, I'm a lazy person. At some point, I'd like to renovate houses and get to the stage where I own a house with a large double garage and an indoor swimming pool, but that involves hard work, which at the moment I don't appear to be doing.
I left my place of employment, it took a week to lift the depression it had caused - that was surprising. I'm now unemployed (not claiming benefits) and should be using this mini-break to blitz the house etc., but I've become a master of procrastination.
I realise a large part of it is due to the weight I've put on, it's amazing how much it slows you down. I've listened to motivational tapes, I've played dance music - none of it's working like it used to.
Any ideas on self-motivation would be great. (I've been telling myself to "get on with it" and "pull my finger out" to no avail.) Especially if you were previously a lazy person who has changed their ways....

I'm still a lazy person....
But I do find rewards and deadlines help - or alternatively I invite someone round and don't want to be ashamed of the state I usually live in - that makes me get at least the downstairs rooms tidied!

Hi Queegle
I'm a lazyt bum too
Try and do little jobs, or split the big jobs into little ones. eg. instead of cleaning the whole bedroom just sort out your clothes.
or invite your mum over. That should get you into a mad cleaning panic
or get the vibrating snails to do it for you

I'll hold my hands up as a lazy person………..its only the thought of putting my feet up and getting a break that spurs me on to do any work!
I am trying to motivate myself to lose weight and perhaps find a part time job (gave up work when my wee girl was born). I was motivated by a quote from Kylie about her recent recovery where she said something along the lines of knowing that it was going to be a tough mountain to climb but that she didn't fancy hanging around at the bottom much.

Wow, it's odd when you look back on old posts. The depression kicked off by the awful job took more than a week to shift - it was only about 3 weeks ago that something clicked (thought came to me: "meanwhile, back in the real world"), and bing! I'm back to normal.
Still not one of those who can't sit still for a minute, but I'm more interested in doing stuff than watching tv all day, which is brilliant.
The problem now though is that the other half has gotten so used to me being quiet, that now I'm all mad again, he's finding it weird, like dating a different person (again)!
Moral of the story? If your job; the place where you spent more time at than anywhere else, is getting you down, change it. It may be difficult, it may be surprisingly easy, but even if you're earning less, you'll know "I'm not at that horrible place anymore"!

Looking back on the old post again. Of course what I didn't realise was that just because I'd snapped back into the real world, didn't mean I was better. Every month I thought "wow, I feel much better than last month, I must be ok!" and repeat.
It's actually taken to the middle of this year for me to feel completely back to the way I used to be. 2 years to get well from depression.
At least I know what to look out for now to stop it happening again. If something's getting you down, change it. The new thing may not be great, so you change it again. It's gotta be better doing that than staying in a rut. Only 1 life.
