I am a member of Rotary International (RI). Many people don't know who we are or what we do or care about. RI is an international philanthropic service organization. For years our focus has been on the eradicaiton of polio worldwide. Through various RI activities, we have sponsored and administered ~ 1.2 billion polio immunizations since 1986. For more information about our polio eradication project, please see www.rotary.org/foundation/polioplus/information/history.html.
Every year we focus on one or two global issues to focus our energies on. This year one of the main goals is water, including access to, cleanliness of, and preservation of. If anyone out there is a member of a Rotary Club that is planning on a water project in the next year, please let me know. I"m interested in others' service ideas and projects.
I know, this whole unselfish, philanthropic thing is sort of out of character for me, but I can't be anti-social all the time.

I really do love this organization. We have four focuses of service, international, community, professional development, and club (that's where are the parties come from). While there is alot of traditional boy's club mentality sometimes, the work that the organization does is really spectacular. My club is working with a club in Kenya to help finance and build a local village well with a water purification system.
We do know how to have a good time!!!
