I've just finished a fifteen-and-a-quarter hour shift. We're expecting a visit from one of our directors, the company is launching a new corporate image and we've got a new manager 'on trial', so I had a list of jobs as long as my arm and I couldn't even think of coming home till they were all finished.
And I can't see things being any better tomorrow- I mean, later today...

Well was it better or not?

Slightly shorter, but not much better. The visit's tomorrow lunchtime, so I'll have to go in early to get prepared.
It's daft, really. We run around creating the illusion of everything being okay, so our director gets the wrong impression and doesn't do anything about all the things that are wrong. So much for fact-finding...
Bet you're sorry you asked!

No not at all.
One trick. If the Boss boss asks you a question, tell the truth if the place sucks. If they are serious about the make over thing they will respond positively to real criticism / input from the shop floor. Trust me I've seen it several times before.
Oh, and I checked out your Post entry. Nice one
