I think it's important to realise that the Italics have said that it is not expected for you to yikes anything - if you don't want to yikes anything, you don't have to.

That's good to know. I don't really want to resign as a Scout, but I DEFINITELY don't want to help impose this clumsy, cowardly, offensive policy.

i thought the Badges *had* been asked to mod any posts about the war. (not that its compulsory, but that the editors have asked that the Badges be in this role)
any chance of a revised post 1 coming back?

Kea, no there is almost no chance of post 1 coming back.
I was offered the opportunity to edit it and have it reposted by the italics, but I have declined. On the other hand, copies are available by e-mail should you wish to see what it said.

If you mean have I done any yikesing of postings relating to the war, then no, absolutely not, and I don't intend to do anything of the sort.

Yes, I conveniently ignored and trashed that email as well.
It's very difficult to resign spontaneously as a Sub, because we're usually halfway through a batch at the time, and don't like to see other people's work suffer.

I thought all the schemes were voluntary and certainly in the Ace's case I thought we were only obliged to do what we could or wanted to. If there is something we can not do because we feel it is wrong then we do not have to do it (assuming it does not break the house rules)
From my perspective this allows us each to maintain our personal integrity and continue our roles in the way we believe they should be.
I am not saying what we have been asked to do is right - I dont think that hootoo is the place (in my case) to discuss my personal views and oppinions. I come here to have fun.
Its a complex situation and these are very worrying times. I find myself torn over the whole thing. With close friends involved I fully understand the security implications of unintentional comments and yet I oppose any form of censorship.
We cannot escape however from the fact that the media are now an integral part of the war effort and it must be a very tough situation for the italics to find themselves in - irrespective of their views they find that they have to support an editorial line which is beyond the control of hootoo.
The point from my perspective is however this -
At the end of the day if we all stop volunteering the community that we all care about is what suffers - you guys are all great at what you do and it would be a shame for us to loose your contribution in these areas.
You must do what you think is right - Something I have long admired in all of you is the fact that you have principles that you activly live your lives by. Its a rare quality. Dont let that change - keep seeing the bigger picture, remembering what is really important to you in any situation and setting the rest of us an great example.

If you're interested, an identical email was sent to the Gurus, Scouts and Subeditors.
