Oh dear, another one
So have you scouts been told to look out for, and jump up and down upon, any debate over Iraq?

Yup, and so have the Subs.
In my case, I'm just going to 'conveniently' ignore it, I think...

master B, fight the power from within. This censorship policy is absolutely mind-boggling, but of course any time i have tried to explain why i think so, my post seems to get pulled.

of course that may have something to do with the er....less than polite terminology I used. I referred to certain world leaders on both sides of the current issue as evil boneheads and said if they wanted to meet in the street with six-gun and settle things mano a mano that would be fine and the world would come out ahead either way. As I recall the phrase President Gump figure in there somewhere too.
Ironic that the militaries of two nations are going off to preserve the world's freedom and we are not allowed to discuss it in a site based in one of those nations.

its an understandable response, GreyDesk. speaking as a pleb, i can't say i'll be yikesing anyone for discussing the war.

The story of my nickname.
I started using French translations some months ago when there was policy change that no foreign languages were to be allowed on site. That policy changed within a matter of hours, but my use of French stuck.
The only problem is, I don't speak French very well at all. So all the translations were done with Altavista's Babelfish transaltion service.
I changed my name to what I belived to be a translation of "No war for Oil" yesterday. And Toy Box this morning told me that whilst that was correct, its implictaion was I was describing the oil used in vinagrette rather than the black stuff what comes out of the ground!
So I changed it.
Then finally someone in the Towers dug out their French/English disctionary and worked out what I was saying. Hence it got reset to "Researcher 165955". So I have to chose a new version, and a rather like the surreal touch of "No War for Salad Dressing", so I'll keep it until either the Editorial policy on Iraq is changed, or it gets yanked again.
There, I think that covers everything

Well, I appear to be immune for the time being.

Hmmm... That might not come back as it was a straight cut and paste from the Aceforum and they do get a bit picky about folk doing that sort of thing
Of course if you fancy a copy all for yourself, just e-mail me at the address on my home page

I cannot believe they are even considering removing the first post. The entire post consisted of a repost of the BBC Conflict in Iraq policy followed by a very short resignation of an ACE position by someone who did not agree with the policy. How publicly resigning your comission because you don't like the policy can be considered a violation of that policy is more than a trifle Orwellian. I may just resign from this whole sorry network and post my reasons for doing so extensively elsewhere.

To clarify, paperboy, I think the reason the first post was removed was less because of GD's views on moderation than the fact he reproduced material from the ACEforum, a private mailing group which all members are asked not to replicate material from on site.

To be fair, there was no instruction that the message shouldn't be copied and pasted onto site.

i can think of 2 possible reasons..
1. the email was written by someone other than GB, so it breached copyright (i've been modded on something similar)
2. ACEs aren't meant to discuss in detail what is in their own discussion group?
still sucks though. GD, if its the first reason you could ask Natalie for permission to post it again. its a relevant thing for the wider h2 community to have access to.

I'm pretty relaxed about it at the moment. The posting is in moderation, it hasn't yet been "removed". If the later happens then I'll look again at the matter
