YAY!!! Another Spiritualized gig
Brixton Academy this time. A full two hour set viewed from the famous slopping sticky carpet that is the Academy's stalls. Also introduced the gf to the coolness that is Jason and the boys are live. She seems to be hooked now
Loads of really good old numbers from the Lazer Guided Melodies and Spacemen 3 days - I am flying still

spirtualised? arent they a bit flatulent and pretentious?
but i have no qualms with brixton academy...its big enough to have a reefer in...and they dont care. i like that in a venue. infact, you dont ven need your own...the passive somking there is extreme...i just went to see belle and sebastian there...

Pretentious? Never! Surely they have been the leaders in pushing the boundaries of what can be done with a guitar for the last 15 years.
I've never cared much for the Academy. I always find that my ankles start hurting after a while due to that slope in the floor. Also you can never sit down anywhere in the venue due to the ingrained beer and fag ash. Still, I s'pose its better than either Sheffield or Wembley Arenas.

leaders? boundaries? maybe. but their latest album is booooooring.
i like the academy, but im far more of a fan of small venues, where its more personal...

Boring? A minority taste maybe, but then Spiritualized / Spacemen3 fans always consider themselves a cut above.
Small venues. I've seen Spiritualized in a back bar at Huddersfield Poly, as was, on a stage that must have been all of 18 inches high and with the floor area of your average scout hut. Good gig as well

a cut above? being beheaded is a cut above. being circumsized is a cut above. i dont know about your criteria for good
but seeing spiritualised in a back bar is still massive kudos. ive missed the strokes in a small venue, and the hives and now a whole bunch of other up-and-comers...so i know scour my NME and look for next big things so i can say i was there from the start

Recalls:
- The Stone Roses in a Manchester pub
- Moby as a support act
- as were the Happy Mondays one evening
- and some funny little band from Athens Georgia doing a stint at the Marquee club, REM I think they were called

i am not worthy!
im impressed. im very impressed. the trouble is i dont live in a big city, so just going to pubs to see bands is a tall order...tickets + trainfair + beer
in case you ever hear of the eighties matchbox b-line disaster, which you will if theres justice, ive seen them

I've heard of them but thats about it.
And the only reason I've seen way more bands than you is because I've had more time on my side

they are way cool.
and the other reason you have seen more is that you dont live in a prison...and you have money...oh well...gonna see powderfinger next month
