Somebody told me recently that whaen Grodon Brown was asked what was the worst mistake he made in government, his reply was not 'selling most of Britain's gold' but 'speed humps'. Can anyone verify this?

Hmmm, I haven't found anything definitive yet. 'Speed bumps' is a phrase which some use to descrive financial measures which slow down a runaway economy, so it may be something to do with that. No reference to it being Brown's biggest mistake, though. I may have another trawl when I get more time.
