Early Morning Follies

Today started off on the right foot for me. I just stepped out of the shower, still damp, and proceeded to go into the kitchen. On my way I passed by the kitty litter box. Now, every once in awhile the little darlings will "overshoot the mark" so to speak, and leave a small deposit outside the box on the floor. Of course, being still sleepy, I did not look where I was stepping in the hallway. You guessed it...

...I slid halfway across the floor on a cat s***. I had to get back into the shower to clean off my feces-covered foot and then try to clean up the poop I had mashed into the flooring. There was still a big stain by the time I left for work 15 minutes later. smiley - grr

Naturally, I had yelled the only thing that was truly appropriate: "Oh s***!"

I bought the largest I could find in the stores around here. The suspects in question, however, prefer to do their duty scrunched up in the extreme corner of the box--a situation conducive to the accident described above. No matter how big the litter pan is I think they would continue to leave me a smiley - gift.

Most smiley - catbring their pet a dead bird or mouse.

Maybe you need to seek out the services of a smiley - catpsychologist.
Or go have a word with Greebo, see if she has any hints or tips for you?
My last smiley - catignored the litter tray more often that she used it.
She liked to squat in the corner of my bathroom and I never knew {she liked her privacy} until one day a foul-smelling drip started coming through my kitchen ceiling.

smiley - yikes

That's disgusting. But I guess it's one of the crosses a pet owner must bear--occasional disagreeable behavior. Lucy's always liked to do her business in a corner of the box. I don't know why though. My other smiley - cat, Toshi, has a thing about peeing in a corner of the dining room if I've been away too long or she's bored. I solved that problem by not allowing them in that room while I'm gone. Recently, she's been let out on parole. If I'm gone only a couple of hours (definitely not during work!) I will keep the door open so she can explore all rooms of the house.

She has plenty of toys, an interesting cat-scratching post, a playmate in Lucy, and lots of comfy chairs and a great big bed. What else could she want? I think her age (15) is making her smiley - cross. She wants my attention 24/7.

Some days, though, they make it really hard to love them.

Such as today, after a night of very little sleep because someone decided to yowl all night.

Ahhhh, yes. Feline Operatics..... I must admit, those were the hardest to appreciate! Especially at 4am! Happy memories!
I hope you had a quieter night last night.

Awwwww smiley - hug

I was lucky with my smiley - cats, they never yowled at night.

Only one way to shut yowlers up, kick them outside until they learn.
Tough love.

smiley - sadface

I am seriously considering getting another smiley - cat now my lad is getting older & less likely to torment one.

I really miss having a furry friend.

I did sleep better last night, but only because I was exhausted from the night before and I had eaten a heavy dinner.

When the yowling first started, about four or five months ago, I put Toshi outside. But then I realized that the cold temperatures only aggravated her arthritis, which has almost crippled her at the age of 15. I chose to put her comfort above mine. I guess that's part of being a responsible pet owner.

I'm glad you slept better last night.
Could your cat be feeling a bit lonely in the night these days? I know she has company in the the other cat, but she could be craving human company. Or Could she just be having a phase?

Being a responsible pet owner is hard work, but, you do feel you have to do the right thing for the wee souls don't you.

She also yowls when I *am* at home. She will go into another room and start her performance within minutes. I've heard Siamese will often do this--and begin at a much younger age. She's a purebred, so I guess I'm lucky she took up her musical career late in life.

As for being starved for human attention, if you ever saw me with them, you'd never have to question my attentiveness! smiley - winkeye However, if you asked the smiley - cat, she say she's lonely and smiley - blue and never gets enough of being fed, brushed, petted, and adored.

Ahhhhhhh Siamese! All is explained. Gorgeous, smart rewarding felines! I used to be honorary Mum to a pair. I loved them to bits. They can never get enough attention! After that, I was Honorary Mum to a pair of Burmese, also smart and gorgeous, and demanding!.
I miss the moggies smiley - sadface, but I am allergic, so I can't have any. boooo!
