My friend the Hon. Member for Essex Adult Superstores will be aware that the Lords are attempting to Gerrymander all legislation passed on to them for consideration by deliberatly delaying their discision on the Hunting Bill. As a result the Government will have to operate the Parliamentary Act to get Hunting Through in the next session to allw normal business to resume.

We've all been over the pros and cons as we see them regarding fox hunting but I think the reason Labour backbenchers held out for the totall ban was due to their principles for most and for others a penance for selling their souls to NEW labour just so that they could get into power. What a shock they had when the whole war on terror came round and they found out they werent going to get their party back.

Ahh, but *when* will you get a full ban? There's precious little time left this session.
No sympathy for the backbenchers, or the Labour voters. They a) should have known better than to trust the politicians and b) shouldn't have sold their souls in the first place.

Which is exactly why they'll use the Parliament Act to force it through this session.
Ironic to find a party activist saying we shouldn't trust politicians. After all, thats supposed to be my stance;
'Don't vote. A governemnt will get in.'

Well, it's a bit rich isn't it. Moan about this government doing things they weren't elected to (war in Iraq), moan about 'em doing things they were elected to (banning fox hunting).

As I've just pointed out in the other thread, I'm *not* a party activist. My father was, my grandfather was, ad infinitum but I'm not.

Do we detect inherited voting patterns here per chance?

You're active inasmuch that you are a member therefore you pay subscription fees therefore you actively perpetuate the Tory Party.

You do indeed DD, and I'm not ashamed of that. I continue to vote Tory because I think they're a realistic party, however, not because my family does. If I continued my family's political beliefs, I'd think Howard for leader was a good idea.
All right Blues, I'll give you that- I don't campaign however, and I'm not active in the local Conservative Assoc.

I think I'll wear my lack of badge as a badge of honour
I assume that was a bookmark come 'ek! They're still talking about politics" comment.
