Well, Tarantino's 4th is a bit of a stormer. Kill Bill gets the definite smiley - ok and smiley - starsmiley - starsmiley - starsmiley - starsmiley - star from me. Amongst the many highlights;

Sonny Chiba as the bar owner.
Gordon Liu (we can only hope that in Volume 2 Gordon will get to strut his stuff and show us some of that fantastic form as seen in such classics as 'Drunken Shaolin Monk' and '36 Chambers of Shaolin') as the bar owners stroppy mate.
The big stupid grin I got from the Shaw Brothers music at the beginning.
The wonderful homage to Japanese yakuza classic 'Lady Snowblood'.(We can only hope that Volume 2 will give us a similar homage to the babycart of Death' series, as her kid is still alive...)
Uma Thurman in Bruce's yellow and black jumpsuit...Uma Thurman in general, actually...
The beautifully judged and executed anime sequence.
'Those of you that are still alive can leave with your lives. But leave your limbs. They belong to me now.' smiley - rofl

Oh, and that fantastic soundtrack, the highlight of which was Shonen Knife masquerading as 'The 5, 6, 7, 8's' playing trashy Cramps style rock'n'roll...smiley - laugh

Well FC liked it and is looking forward to Volume 2. She doesn't normally like this genre of film whatsoever. Well done QT and Uma

So that's me and FC turned to the dark side then! I really am missing something about Uma Thurman I think. She's a bit plain for my liking, what is it about her?

When's vol two out? smiley - biggrin

Tube - the being being back for the time being

Yeah, I liked it, too! smiley - smiley Very QT-style with the chapter intros and the very cheesy "Feature" bit at the very beginning... smiley - ok

Uma is certainly no raging beauty, I'll admit, but she works really well in this part, and in Pulp Fiction as well...

Bloody silly in the Avebngers though. But then who wasn't.smiley - cross

Actually, the only 'acting' bit of the film that was any good was McNee's hilarious turn as Invisible Jones...

Liked the sets and the costumes. Everything else - big dog turds.

Which is a strange coincidence because I was still talking about the Avengers. The acting in Kill Bill is up to the usual standard we've come to expect from a Tarantino flick...

Mina, release date for Volume 2 is February 20th, 2004 for the USA. We got a very nearly simultaneous release in the UK. Presumably they wanted time to get 'Matrix: Revolving Door' and 'Return of the King' out of the way.

Ah. Nothingh important, then. I was just opining that they won't want to run it up against Matrix : Revolutions and the third LOTR film, hence the February release date.

I'm assuming we will get a release in FebruaryMarch here in the UK so as not to minimise trans-atlantic pirating for those who are desperate to see the second part.

Aha, yes, now I get it. smiley - ta

Pirating? Hmm, some films are worth waiting for to see on the big screen I think. I'm toying with going to see Alien at the cinema, as I was too young the first time round.
