Yes, and quite frankly I think this suits your reputation quite nicely. A conversation that started somewhere fairly sensible, and went straight to smiley - silly, bypassing all other states.

Well yes, there is that, I suppose. Recent attempts at joining 'grown up' bits of the site have been a dreadful failure...

Hmm, I might let you stay in that case. Especially as I'm in a good mood today as I got the last part of the project up last night (well, last part for the time being) and we have cakes in the office.

Oh goody, something else to find SPG errors in smiley - winkeye We have cakes too- unfortunately they're badly made an cost 55p out a machine.
On the subject of SPG, I did enjoy watching That'll Teach 'Em last night- That's *exactly* what my English Language lessons were like, and that's only five years ago smiley - laugh

Television. Ah yes, i vaguely remember the concept, though with tonight being the last ER (which came as a bit of a shock vis-a-vis other events in my life), I'm not going to be watching musch of it between now and the start of the Gridiron season...

SPG error?

Spelling Puncuation Grammar. That which is drilled into one in English lessons- in my case by a mad Scotsman with a limp, who had a nasty tendancy to make one stand on a chair and explain exactly how one screwed up tests. Fortunately not a fate I ever suffered, although grandnegusdave did smiley - laugh

Hmm, sounds archaic teaching to me. I get lazy, but I'm grateful to my somewhat less orthiodox teachers for instilling a love of language in me. Horses for courses I guess.

I get a love of language and an ability to use it correctly. As an example, when I'm writing properly I tend not to start sentences with prepositions smiley - winkeye

We had separate lessions for creative writing- taught by the same man. During these lessons he stopped pacing up and down banking on desks, and just sat on the desk instead.

I don't actually have to think to hard about ost of it these days. I was taught it all, but I was also taught how and when to break the rules.

Starting sentences with a preposition my not be strict BBC policy, but it has it's uses and occasionally is very effective, for example.

True- I'll give you that. It is very useful for giving emphasis to something. It's actually poor puncuation that's my personal bug bear- casual grammar I can quite happily live with.

My punctuation is (I hope), pretty good. (Mrs Restick would be disappointed if not.) The wandering apostrophe is a recent disease which I need to get sorted. I *never* used to have a problem with the damned things.smiley - cross

There's a song lyric in the latest one that gave me a bit of difficulty. I shall be interested to see what you make of it.
