h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Oops... we are so embarassed. The lovely gold statue of the Queen was actually a gift of His Royal Highness, Fuolornius, King of Brequinda
on the Foth of Avalars. It was presented by Paul Prefect, and was placed before the throne in the Great Hall by four magnificent Fuolornis Fire Dragons. Our Crown Jeweller, the Brain, created a wondrous goblet, with filigree, an' jewels, an' everything. An' it's still good for drinking from. *slurp* He is also repairing the dents in the Royal Crown, from when we went off on a secret mission fighting brigands. There now. We hope we have everything straight. Oh, the heavy responsibilities of royalty...

P'rhaps we will jus' have a li'l drinkie outta that goblet and relax a bit...*glug, glug, glug* Ahhhhhhhh........

Aha! I didn't realize the Queen was keeping a personal journal of the goings on at Damogran as well! (That'll teach me, won't it? ) Good thing I dropped into court to hear the announcement!

I try to add to my journal once a week and lately Damogran seems to have been occupying most of my time. I also thought it might help newcomers figger out what had been going on.

Have made another 'faux pas' tho, discovered today that the Royal Jeweler should NOT be referred to as Sir Brain, but rather as LADY Brain. these gender assumptions are so pesky, ya' know? although both you and I have been the subject of them now and again.

*nodnoddles* Ah yes.. many times, many times... and in various lands as well! I've seen Brain's .. erm.. 'name change' floating about during my wand'rings today, so yeah, I knew 'bout dat.

And on both ends, too..

I try to not make gender assumptions towards anyone, and with dragonly names that's often easier (not just you in particular, blu, but a perfect example, nonetheless), but the ole brain tends to make em lots of time of it's own accord without us having much to do wif it. On the other hand, once a gender has been set by said individual, it quickly becomes hard to imagine him, her, or hir as anything else.

Funny how the most open-minded (or so we think) among us can make stereotypes like that. For example, if I see a sign for "Dr. So-and-so", I still tend to picture a male. Shame, shame.

I'm not so quick on things like that... I guess partly because my favourite doctor I've ever had was a woman.

I guess I just don't care what gender you are.. for intelligent (or just silly) conversations that knowledge is unnecessary. I detest a/s/l checks, so I've learned (thank you internet) to just forget about it for the most part. I prefer to get to know the -being- before the body.. does that make any sense?
