Halloo to anyone who stops by, from the wilds of the True North...
I am off working on the construction of my new lair in the wilds of Northern Michigan. That's the REAL northern Michigan--the Upper Penninsual part. By gitchee-gumee [shinning big-sea water]. Just south of the Canada part, eh?
My computer continues to limp along needing constant recharges. So my time here is still limited. I am trying to get around to see all my friends, and respond to new visitors, but it is sorta hard to have enough time for all.
Meanwhile, I am sanding and painting, painting and sanding. there sure is a lotta wood in a log cabin...
If I dont make it to see all of my friends this week I will see you in the next Millennium. Which, I suspect, is going to be a great deal like the old one, only with different numbers.
And remember, the Solstice Festival continues until January 3 or thereabouts. And it IS working...the sun IS coming back.

"Well the legend lives on from the Chippewa (not sure of spelling...) on down of the big lake they call Gitchee-gumee."
A little Gordon Lightfoot there. "Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald". One of my favorite songs, although it's not of my generation, and it always makes me cry. "And all that remains are the faces and the names of the wives and the sons and the daughters." They say a 30-foot wave took her under, so you watch when you're paddling around out there, blu. I wouldn't want your fire to go out!!! Or yon dragon'd be without flame. Not good.
And thanks for doing your part to bring the sun back. The original "Twelve Days" of Christmas, or so I'm told, centered around the solstice festivals.
More power. To your computer, I mean.

P.S. When I was a young girl, I lived right on the shores of Lake Ontario in New York State. A much smaller lake than her sister, but impressive weather nonetheless. Make sure you have some warm boots!!

warm boots, an' snowshoes even!
not much snow, even 'up nort', but I did get to practice a little with the snowshoes. [Sorta scarey--dragon on snowshoes]
gitchee-gumee/shining big-sea water so says Longfellow 'singing' about Hiawatha. An lotsa 'real' Chippewa indians up there, too. Sault tribe of Chippewa is in Sault Ste Marie.
I have been to the Shipwreck Museum on Whitefish Point where they have the Fitzgerald's bell, and also in Sault Ste Marie on the Valley Camp [docked museum ship] where there is a recovered lifeboat. Awsome the way the covered, heavy metal lifeboat was twisted and battered by the force of the storm. Makes one real respectful of the power of Lake Superior.
