I went to see the new GP today. The poor woman now has to read through the stack of letters and lab reports she asked me to give her... I hope she at least has a glass of with it
At least she asked the obvious question - *why* isn't the part they identified being treated? Unfortunately, I'd been hoping *she* could answer that, I assumed it was an insurance thing
I'm to call her after I get back from my UK/Ireland trip. The good news is, she did permit me to use a backpack for that, albeit at my own risk, and only if it's a good padded one with a hip belt, and only if I don't carry it for hours on end, and only (the difficult bit for me ) if I don't overload it too much. I should still be able to fit in a
and any souvenirs people want me to bring for the meet.
If all else fails and it's a problem for my shoulder after all, I'll just have to strap it on a skateboard and pull it behind me

As to not packing too much... leave that sword. Put it down. Now. Leave it back home. Thank you.
As to the lump (der Lump!) - I cannot imagine just what the doctors are thinking. My father-in-law was suffering from some unidentified sickness exactly a year back. He looked horrible, could not eat, got all yellow skin, got weaker and weaker. In hospital, they tested the obvious, then tested the not so obvious, then did some more testing that included shoving him into tubes and stuff. All tests came out negative, while he got worse and worse. Finally, the Lady of the Mice (his daughter), who had been doing some internet research for the symptoms, slipped some holy thistle (silybum marianum - Mariendistel) extract into his drinking water - and voila!, he recovered within a week.
At other hospitals, we later learned, the doctors do administer that remedy (which can be bougth at any drug store over the counter, as it were), but not at that particular one. There, they only went by the Old School book, the scientific method: identify first and treat then. Now, I am a fan of science and scientific thought, but I am also a fan of the idea that doctors ought to make people healthy rather then test them to death...
Long story short - I guess there is no moral to this tale other than don't always trust the docs. But then again, I doubt you are too patient with them in any case. So I'll just keep my mouth shut and my fingers crossed for some results to be presented to you upon your return
Y.

In the modern world of House MD it's vitally important to almost but not entirely kill the patients first and then cure them.
You ain't packing yet, are you?

Oh, please say you are* bringing a sword?; Just make sure someone captures your discussion with customs as you enter/leave national borders

I wouldn't know what to do with it there.
Anyway, I didn't want a tour of the British judicial system...

If all else fails, maybe
I prefer to carry my things, not have a trolley bumping into my heels constantly.

When I hurt my back, my doctor recommended I carry my backpack on my front. I couldn't get him to understand why that would be even more uncomfortable than on my sore back.
Here's what I'd do: find a handsome, strapping young lad to carry it for you. Though if you have half my luck, the little will just run off with it.

It's my (unprofessional) opinion that you've needed a for some time now.
Will you get one before ?
(I've been itching to use a new smiley already...)
