Hello Steerpike369.
The last time I monitored key strokes in Windows it was via a program I'd written myself which was hooked into the usual Windows operating system functions. For example just watching the WM_KEYDOWN, WM_KEYUP, WM_SYSKEYDOWN and WM_SYSKEYUP messages. Since you haven't done this, I presume you are not up to writing your own software.
There were definitely some commercial tools around too - again primarily for programmers (and debuggers). This means they might be expensive for casual use. I suppose there might also be freeware by now though. Are you sure you really want/need to go down this route?

In case you were looking in the wrong sort of places or for the wrong sort of things, I thought I'd do my own quick search for what's out there these days.
I found this PDF document which mentions some products and techniques and thus may cover some of what you need to know:

I also found a relatively old page which seems to be offering a free version of what you want. Though naturally, not having used it myself, I can't vouch for it. It also doesn't seem to have been tried on the last couple of versions of Windows at all. You didn't say what version you had though (even Windows was an assumption based on you calling it a PC).
