Yet another thread on the <./>ACEs</.>' home page turned into a private conversation between two researchers rather than taking it to their respective user pages - now you know why I don't seem to be subscribed to that page.
I am subscribed, see - but I've seen this happen once too many times, and I so very rarely find the threads informative that I usually unsubscribe from a thread the moment I notice it.
*sighs*

yes, me too.
I had a greeting removed yesterday, the moderation email wasn't very friendly, "your posting has broken the rules" ST posted the alert because the newbie appeared in PR with an unsuitable entry, fair enough, but then he unsubbed because he got told off.
I still don't know how to tell if a newbie has signed up with h2g2 or another site, but I know the greeting will be removed (as in never posted to, rather than "no subject") if I make a mistake.
I think, for usstruggling to cope with all the change.

Traveller in Time agreeing with both
"I will stay subscribed. And besides it sows newbees, also frequent visitors of the ACEs home page, how things 'work' on this site .
For what I understood of the greeting of new researchers, 'Smij' says they have to show they want to contribute to the site. In my opinion this immigrant did show some attempt to integrate, be it not with a smashing entry, it was an attempt.
I would not dare to estimate the number of 'Registrated Researchers' not following the exact GuideLines during their first week on site. "

What really got to me in the most recent thread is when Intern 'the ACE police' posted that:
"well i have yikes every thing if there is no joy from that we can seek advise from the italics tomorrow"
So now he has taken it upon himself to moderate other ACEs' postings as well?

Frankly regardless what happened to the thread after I unsubbed, the fact remains that I did what I thought was right by highlighting a newbie un-aced. If Intern,as an Ace, could'nt be bothered to deal in a friendly manner then why is he an Ace and why post such a terse nonesensical response? As volunteers we should be working as a team regardless, if I'd done something wrong in reporting a newbie for attention of an Ace, it would have been better to have explained what was wrong, how to avoid a repetition and in a friendly manner, which is after all what an Ace is supposed to be, FRIENDLY!!
In future I will e-mail privately to the Aces I know well and deal with matters that way rather than waste time in the Aces homepage.
ST.

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
