Bitter indeed!
It's actually a basic brown ale with wormwood in place of hops. (it's sort of an offshoot of my Absinthean experiments.)

It's a plant. Artemesia absinthium. Perhaps the most bitter substance known. In Ukrainian it's called 'Chernobyl'
'And the third angel sounded, and there fell a great star from heaven, burning as it were a lamp, and it fell upon the third part of the rivers, and upon the fountains of waters;
And the name of the star is called Wormwood: and the third part of the waters became wormwood; and many men died of the waters, because they were made bitter. '
Revelation 8:10-11

thanks,
i knew there was a biblical referance to it and that it was used in absinthe
does it not induce halucinations????

The scientific consensus today is that Absinthe, even the classic Parisian Absinthe of a century ago, doesn't contain enough thujone (the substance which could potentially be hallucinogenic) to actually produce hallucinations unless one were to drink enough Absinthe in one sitting to cause immediate liver failure from alcohol poisoning.
My own experience is that Absinthe (even my homemade, extra-strong) just makes one drunk and puckered. But in a quite pleasant way. And with odd dreams sometimes.

I like the sounds of Effers. The word has no other connotation for me than a pastel green color. ( a kind of synesthesia I have)
Some of the people in my list were added without asking them. I´ve been added to other´s people list the same way, which I like.
Later, I removed some names because I wasn´t sure if the feeling would be reciprocal.
There are many more names I´d like to add, but... I don´t dare to ask nor to add them without asking.
I added Effers without asking, she did the same.
We don´t agree in some issues, but I enjoy your journals and other things about you.
I like other´s people journals, but I´ve become a bit unsure and refrain myself.
Some journals are a bit 'endogamic' and I get lost easily.

Lovely to see you here, Mar
Yes I'm quite annoyed about the name change in some ways because I think of the name entirely in a *friendly* way...that's how it emerged when Roymondo called me it, but then when I signed up for the new beeb id thing it made it seemed entirely something bad. Anyway I just decided to bite the bullet before it all becomes purely organised by the new system in the new year.
kea *flant* I really don't care what I'm called. I quite like *flant*...except I might be called FA, unfortunately I just realised that has certain connotations in the UK
Why can't I just be more quiet, unobtrusive..? This is a problem I also have in real life.
Taff yes I know Effes beer. I visited Turkey about 20 years ago, and enjoyed drinking it there. I believe its the state beer. I've occasionally bought it from the Turkish Cypriot shop up the road.

Oh, and there was an Effertzstrasse near where I used to live in Bonn, too. I couldn't help thinking it was named after hootoo's finest flying

Flants... when I first saw the thread title I thought Footie was back!
FA is good though

AFAIK when h2 goes on to the new system we will still be able to change our h2 names to whatever we like (assuming it doesn't break the h2 rules).
