h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Today we've had an environmental cleaning company in to clean shower heads and pipes and also to clean and descale the cold water supply tank. This is done to prevent any sort of water born diseases such as Legionnaires from occurring. The shower head and pipe is done every 3 mths and the main tanks done every 12 mths. They also test the running temperature of both the hot and cold taps in the bathroom and kitchen. These tasks are done to eliminate or to dramatically reduce the chance of, water born issues causing problems to tenants. Makes sense when you think all tenants have some form of underlying medical issues that affect our tolerance for and being able to fight, additional infections from things we take for granted and use every day. The cold and hot water tanks won't be an issue when the new bathrooms are done as they'll be done away with. Small, hot water geysers will supply hot water to sinks and basins and baths are being replaced with showers. They'll still do the shower head/pipe cleaning and temperature test but won't have the lengthy test for the big tanks any more. It can take up to 3, sometimes 4 hours currently to do all tests etc. Some of the header tanks are very difficult to get access to. That'll be reduced to probably less than an hour when the new systems are in. There'll be a saving cost wise too. A win win all round.
The next batch of safety tests will be the usual electrical and appliance checks, I think that's due in the next month or so.
Time now for a nice mug of and then fire up the win 10 system and have a go at breakin.... err, I mean testing that.
