Right, well, same ole boring routines really though getting replacement glasses turned into a bit of a saga after having laser treatment.
The laser did its job, no issues there, had a follow up eye test, prescription for new reading glasses issued. So far so good. Distance vision fine, just readers required.
After a couple of days get a call to say glasses ready. Great. Err, not so great, put them on and frankly have no idea what the prescription was but it certainly wasn't for me. They were awful. The technician checked some things, re-checked prescription, apologised and said they'd get them re-done.
Two days later, another call, glasses ready. Lo and behold, they'd got the lens wrong way round, left lens in right and vice versa.smiley - spacesmiley - facepalmsmiley - space Oh well 3rd time lucky, got a call yesterday, (Thurs) glasses ready again and I picked them up today. I'm happy to say, they're superb, it was a case of 3rd time lucky.smiley - spacesmiley - geeksmiley - space The difference is amazing, I can read fonts as small as ยท4 without any straining so no need fer me ole fashioned magnifying glass now.smiley - spacesmiley - biggrin
The order for my new Motability car has been placed and approved so that's sorted, delivery is 18th March, nothing else much has changed really. The medical issues are ongoing but currently under control at current levels of medication. My diet is going well though according to the smiley - spacesmiley - doctorsmiley - space he wants me to lose at least another stone. I've got till May to achieve that, (next cardiac clinic) though the cardiac smiley - spacesmiley - nursesmiley - space seems to think losing another stone would make me under-weight according to the new BMI systemsmiley - spacesmiley - ermsmiley - spacesmiley - shrugsmiley - space Have to see what happens on that score.
That is about it I think, weather is awful, so much rain of late we'll be getting webbed feet soon.smiley - spacesmiley - biggrin
Hope everyone is ok and staying well, warm and dry, tis time for a nice mug of smiley - spacesmiley - coffeesmiley - space and put me feet up again. ttfn. smiley - spacesmiley - towel

Getting the lens the wrong way round showed a lack of quality control and a failure of checks and balances by whoever made them Lil.

Prof, the laser was done on NHS as there was a 'clinical' need. When I had the cataracts done they replaced the lens in the eyes with artificial lens and one reacted in the lens pocket they sit in. It cause clouding of the lens so they zapped it with a laser to clean it basically.smiley - ok

Its what caused the delay in getting my reading glasses sorted so the fact the opticians, or more correctly, the company that make glasses for the opticians, got them so wrong was somewhat gobsmacking to say the least.smiley - spacesmiley - biggrin

Glad you got there in the end with your glasses smiley - oksmiley - geek

Glad there was no argument getting them sorted too. I once happened to be able to see the optician's computer and noticed that the previous customer's details were still there, and were in the process of being linked to the frame I had just chosen... No argument on that one, but when my dad found he couldn't quite see with his new glasses, they were adamant it was his eyes that were the problem, not the prescription, and told him to get used to it smiley - erm He went back to his old glasses until he went to a different optician, and then his vision was sharp again no problem...

Magwitch - My name is Mags and I am funky.

I've had to resort back to my old glasses - the latest ones fell apart and I've not bothered to take 'em back to get 'em fixed.

It's confusing, though, I have two pairs, one for the computer and reading (although if I'm actually reading they're rubbish and I just read glasses free) and my normal pair. They're pretty much the same colour now and I sometimes go out with the wrong glasses on and can't see much beyond 3 feet smiley - silly

BMT can now see all the muck behind his PC smiley - winkeye
