... how much better I feel if I am actually allowed to do the job that I am employed to do.
I have been here four weeks, and today - at last - I have managed to bang my head on enough brick walls, and rattle the bars of enough cages, to get the permissions and contacts to do what I am good at, and what I am here for.
What a pity I leave in 3 weeks time...

Judging by the description of your surroundings and the permissions that have been granted to you, I must assume that you are, in fact, serving a short prison sentence, and have just been put in charge of the governor's filing cabinet.

But what do filing cabinets normally contain? Usually an ancient desktop calculator the size of a typewriter, a furry coffee mug, and a small bag of very dry potting compost for the benefit of the office spider plant.
