My Decree Absolute came in the post today.
In November 1982 I first met my ex.
In April 1983 we fell in love and slept together for the first time.
In November 1983 we got engaged.
In April 1985 we were married. (My father was a clergyman, and it is his handwriting on my marriage certificate).
In 1995 we started to crumble.
On 25th August 1998 he told me he wanted a divorce.
But that September he decided he was no happier, and told me we were 'on' again.
1999 was a roller-coaster.
In January we made love for what was to be the last time.
In February he wanted to separate.
By the Summer we were 'on' again.
In September we split up (over the phone, one lunch-time - my bad timing); and although I did not know it he had a brief fling.
And in November he asked to get together again, promising he would talk about the problems and issues.
Throughout 2000 we talked, but did not talk.
And on 7th September 2000 we agreed to part for the last time.
This year we have both been with other people.
And now on the 3rd September 2001 my Decree Absolute is here on my doormat.

Hurrah!
Slice of divorce cake, Ben? It's like wedding cake, but there can be a bitter aftertaste - it depends on how optomistically you swallow it down.
(is optomistically a word?)

Ah! Carbohydrates! (They cure the blues, you know!)
Thank you very much Doctor, much appreciated! Optomistic looks good enough for me.
Would you like to join Babel and me in some alcohol. We have for the drivers, and good strong hot cups of

You are so right. And I feel much better now that the paperwork is done and dusted. We have signed the stuff relating to the house. All I now need to do is clear the last of my belongings out of the house, and then it really is done and finally dusted.
Thanks for dropping by.

I dropped by as well. Always have been incurably nosey. Also, I always miss things due to my habit of reading other things (not so bad online, but a real nuisance in real life!) so I'm late for the party. But I wish you well!
