h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Right, on friday was told money finishes July 1st. So I spent the weekend mentally sorting out stuff so's I could move on the 1st...good thing as I have already booked a trip home a couple of weeks before then, so I could go and rent flat etc while home.

It now appears that though the money from this lot finishes then, I probably won't be moving up until August. The new lot will be paying me from the 1st July...however, they won't be paying London waiting. Which is a bit of a pain, cos I'll be living in London, spending the same amount of money for one month, but getting less.

That would be OK if it weren't for the fact that at the end of that month I'll be moving, needing new deposit ready, needing to hire van and other moving costs. And now I have to do this on about 200 quid less that I would have had originally.

Boss has semi promised a bit of money towards this but the chances of it coming through are minimal.

Grr - this student lark is not fun!

This moving lark is even less so. Can I not move NOW? It would be a hell of a lot easier, I'd lose less time (seeing as the work I'm doing now is slow anyway, so a couple of weeks set-up ain't gonna harm it in any appreciable way. Whereas in August the proabaility is that eveything will be working brilliantly, and the move will bog it all up again) And of course moving this month would mean I could get it all out of the way and not spend the next four or five months worrying about it!

This is all getting me really annoyed, and I think it's time to go lie down and eat mounds of chocolate. Or kill the boss. Either way.....

Nah...I was just being silly. I can't live for three months without compooter/tv etc...

Am slowly, and after many many rants, sorting out a possible game plan for shifting stuff. Most of the ideas involve just taking the last week or two in July off and sorting stuff in a onner...

Well when/if I find a decent van hire co. I shall pass on all the details

I think I might have the first part or removal OK....Gordon, my sisters man moved from Peckham to Durham last year, and found a 'man with a van' that goes in that direction with an empty van on a regular basis. I can get the stuff up to sis's for around 50 squid, and organise it for there by self drive I would think (one hell of a lot cheaper than from London to anywhere I would guess)

But let me know anyhow....leaving my stuff in a garage halfway up the country is not my favorite answer to the problem...

Won't it all fit in my car then?

I'm contemplating hiring a camel train myself. They can carry a bucket load and the rolling gait is relaxing. Just so long as Ali Baba doesn't come sweeping out of the hills we should be fine.

If he does i'll bargain with him. he can have all my old video tapes and the video to go with them.....I'll take him years to learn how to work the thing, and he'll still never get BBC1...
