h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

As I write, the place where I live is under a tornado warning - that doesn't mean that a tornado might happen (that's a tornado watch), but that a tornado has been sighted, in this case about 40 miles to the south and headed north, i.e. this way. Now, for a bloke from London, this is a pretty scary thing, especially as there's no storm cellar here! When I was growing up in Great Britain, I thought that it must be the best place in the world to live - no earthquakes, no hurricanes (er, anyone tell that to Michael Fish? ), no volcanoes, no tornados, no poisenous or carnivorous animals. I can hear some very scary sounding thunder, and looking out of the window there's a vicious lightning show going on. I'm not afraid to say that I'm more than a little frightened right now . I'm gonna go hide in the bath and cover myself with whatever I can find.
