h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Since last Thursday I've found myself getting logged out of h2g2 each time I close my browser. I don't know why - I haven't changed any settings. So I have to go through the whole Captcha thing every time. That's annoying.

Here's the embarrassing bit. As a 17-year veteran (I think it's 17... might be 16) of h2g2 and spinster of this parish (continuously, I might add - no buggering off for a time and coming back), you'd think I'd be able to find a help page that deals with difficulties such as being logged out. You'd think.

I'm not experiencing that particular issue. I do occasionally get pseudo-booted randomly while trying to post a comment. Typically, if I go back a page and refresh I'm back in, but I often lose my post if I don't remember to [CTRL+A, CTRL+C] first.


I'd suggest sending an email to [email protected] as they may be able to help.

I already have that address, but as far as I can make out it's not listed on any help page, nor, as far as I could find, is there any help page or link if you're having the sort of problem I'm having. As far as I can tell.

Heh... about the time you were typing that, I thought I was experiencing your issue. I had the "click here to complete your registration" message at the top of my page. I refreshed instead, as that usually sorts it for me, but then I got "the web page you requested is not responding".

Fortunately, with another refresh and a wait of several minutes, I was in again with no Captcha required.



And you're correct, there are some basic help features that are either missing, or well hidden from the Pliny front door here. I tried to find the house rules the other day and it took way long than I expected and I never found the rule I thought I remembered. (Some spammer was posting to long abandoned threads selling kilts.)

I have several other browsers on my PC including Tor, which is actually better in several respects now than the new Firefox since they made big changes with 57.0. I'll do a bit of testing.

I'm suspecting the problem does not lie with your set.


I've been getting repeated "bad gateway" errors with my Brunel "My Convos" pop-up.
