I think that match manufacturers should be compelled by law to make the top and bottom of the matchbox easily identifiable. I have to go now. There are about 240 matches on the floor that I have to pick up. Poo.

Aw, gee shucks. Thank you, your royal princessness. I've been meaning for a while to ask you about the stars btw, but now I see that there's a whole forum about them. They're very swish and groovy. I've also been meaning to ask if you're familiar with the Tom Waits song '9th and Hennepin'? It begins thusly....
Well it's Ninth and Hennepin
All the doughnuts have names that sound like prostitutes
And the moon's teeth marks are on the sky
I'm sure that all your doughnuts have perfectly respectable names, and if it's not too much trouble, could I have a chocolate frosted Boston creme please?

I've not heard that song until now... ...and if you want to check out the donut names, they're here: http://www.h2g2.com/A254378
*hands over a chocolate frosted Boston Creme* eat and enjoy!
glad you like the stars, btw...

Yum. And so much nicer than the doughnuts I get from the 7-11 across from where I work. Do you know that if you go into an American diner and ask for sinkers and suds, you'll get coffee and doughnuts? I'm trying to put together an entry about American diner slang, but I don't know enough about its origins and usage, I just like the descriptions - http://www.h2g2.com/F33078?thread=73940

'Coffee and donuts' is an American institution - they like to dunk the donuts in the coffee, which isn't quite as ghastly as it sounds, as long as you're using a plain donut of course Trying to dunk one of the more exotic varieties wouldn't do the coffee any good at all I think!
Yeah, the derivations of most of them are pretty obvious, but I need to collaborate with someone who knows when they first became common or well known, and who maybe even uses them daily in their work as a waiter/ress or a short order cook. And I'd really like to know about that Pepsi one...

Coffee and a plain donut is fine...
but apart from the wierdness of the slang, why on earth would anyone want pepsi with chocolate syrup?? I just don't get it!

Some people will have chocolate with everything. I remember seeing Jo Brand doing a little piece about nutrition where she wheeled out a trolley full of different foods. The only bit of it I recall clearly was when she picked up either a cabbage or a lettuce, looked at it for a moment or two, then disdainfully tossed it over her shoulder and said "No chocolate in it." Cola with various flavoured syrups in is what Americans used to buy at the soda fountain, if any of those still exist. It's how Cherry Coke came about.
I think I'll have to put a lid on it here, your Princessness - I have to go and catch a bus for work, but I'll be back soon for more of those splendid donuts of yours. In fact, I'd love one of those javascript donuts to take to work with me. Ta ever so.

I remember being offered chocolate cola at a café near boston the one time I've made it to America... I think I went for the vanilla option though. Since it was about 7 years ago I don't really remember how it tasted...
have a nice day

Thank you Princess, I had a wonderful day, made even better by finding that your donuts are completely non fattening. I've put on over two stone since I came here, and a not insignificant portion of that is down to desserts and snacks, including donuts. It's so nice to be able to eat a tasty donut in the knowledge that I'm not going to have to walk once more round the block to pay for it

Virtual calories are such a good thing... And one can fill up on virtual donuts and still have room for RL food come teatime!

You're so right. May I put a link to your menu in my personal space?

You're most welcome. Thank you.
I'm in the process of designing a logo for it... well, I have the design, and its on the page... but I need to figure out how to make the graphics program make it look clean in goo.... grrr sometimes I *hate* the fact that there are two skins....

You view in alabaster? Or is it just a logo that doesn't work well in goo? I came along after the development of alabaster, so I'm not really a part of that whole debate. I went for goo purely as a random choice.
I've been to the donut menu, and I've been to the waterworks, but I'm unable to find a page for the donut stall itself - does it exist only as a forum? I'll wait until I'm sure before I put up the link. I think I need some instruction from Bruce about putting logos up on my space. This is the first time I've done any real code-writing, and the simpler stuff is fun, but when I viewed the source code for my personal space, it was scary!!
