What a difficult task. No doubt there will be items that trigger both happy & sad memories. I have heard people advise boxing up some stuff to sort through at a later date if it all seems overwhelming at this stage.

Well after going through my sisters belongings I have vowed that I am going to go home and have a complete sort out of my own stuff on the grounds that I'm not going to leave so much crap for my children to sort through when I'm gone.

I try to declutter from time to time. There's loads of stuff I keep which I'm sure is only of interest to me & I only look at when I'm sorting out cupboards & drawers - but I like knowing it's there. Perhaps I should box certain items & label 'this can be thrown away without looking at'.
My Mum & Dad together burnt all their old letters to each other when they moved house. They didn't want anyone else reading them. Made me a bit sad knowing that.

My sister had clothes going back years and who the hell needs 8 coats?Old shoes that didn't fit her anymore. So much make-up!!It's like she just went out and bought new stuff without using up old stuff but never threw away the old stuff.
And handbags!!Squillions of those..Handkerchiefs, again squillions of those.
It was all too depressing and I don't want my family to feel as depressed. No wonder my nephew found it all too much after 20 minutes and was never seen again except to offer tea..
