Buying a house...

Yes, that's right. The duplex is rapidly shrinking.

It's a little scary, but fortunately Fort Worth seems to be a buyer's market, and interest rates are low, low, low... (Alan Greenspan as The Unseen Hand!) Heck, it's more than a little scary. Buying a new(er) car was a little scary. This is a lot scary. Throwing a wad of money for a place means that the small details become much more important - like central heat and air, wood floors versus vinyl, the neighborhood and what it'll do in the next twenty years... and what do we do if it needs repairs? Phew.

Woah.. big moves, huh. Let us know if you need some moral support, or a Yucca for the lounge smiley - erm I wish I could be more useful help.

Good luck, Jen'n'Rodge. smiley - hug

Thanks! Actually, I've always wanted a giant carnivorous plant, a la Little Shop of Horrors. It'd look nice in the living room.

We looked at houses today... very enlightening. The first house we looked at didn't have any parallel lines. The doors were all slanted and the floor had a definite slope up one side and down the other. The second was pretty cool, but needed some paint and refinishing. We can do that... the third house was big, but oddly constructed - like I said to Rodge, we'd have to open fifteen doors to get to the bathroom. And it had 2 kitchens! Weird... As for the fourth and fifth house, we didn't even bother looking inside. We're going again Sat. to look some more... I'm excited. I'm looking forward to this - having a house that I can tweak in my own way.

Oh, and we'd develop a secret hand signal for the plant for any guests we wanted to get rid of... smiley - bigeyes

Don't worry - you're safe! I'm thinking of two very specific visitors, who both talk at the same time. I end up talking to Kip, while Rodger ends up talking to Julie. Julie is the most flaky, moronic, psycho-religious nutbar I've ever met... I feel bad for him, but there's no way I can rescue him from the conversation, because I'm involved in a conversation with Kip and can never seem to break away from it...

How far are you from the old newculer testing grounds? I bet you could get some interesting shrubbery from there.. smiley - monster

Well, if I do ever make it to Tx it'd be great to visit but I'll be sure to bring some Slim Whitman to keep the aliens at bay. smiley - biggrin

As it is, I'm meeting Barton next month and schlepping around Chicago for a week, which'll be my first taste of 'real' America.. I've got this overwhelming urge to go downtown; is that wise, or am I a masochist? smiley - erm I'm roblably just fussing over nothing.

Julie - hmmm. My advice would be to invite HVL over, he'd soon sort her out smiley - laugh

Happy house-hunting, nesting etc.. smiley - winkeye

Take care smiley - smiley

Oh, wow... send my greetings to the Big B! Chicago at this time of year can be very cold, so bundle up.

I think there is a nuclear power plant somewhere near here... It's very quiet, and the animals don't seem to be growing any extra limbs, so it must be okay.
