Getting Home Late at Night

I was coming home from a party last night when someone approached me, outside my house. It was a young bloke, maybe fifteen. He didn't say anything. He was walking towards me and I changed direction slightly so that I could go home. Then he changed where he was walking, so that he ended up walking directly towards me. By this time, we were directly outside my house. I tried to play it cool by nodding and saying "Morning" (it was after midnight!) in a way that suggested I knew him and this was perfectly normal behaviour. (even though it wasn't!)
He seemed reluctant to let me walk past him and kept moving so he was in my way. By this time, I was quite scared and managed to walk past and open my front gate. He stood by the gate and watched me as I shut it. (which was kind of a futile gesture as he could have quite easily climbed over the low wall to get to the other side) As I shut the gate I looked at him straight in the eye and said, "You take care" and then I turned and went straight into my house. As I was unlocking my door, he stayed behind the gate, watching me. By the time I got upstairs and I looked out of my window he had disappeared.
I'll be honest. He didn't say anything. He didn't seem to have any weapons or touch me in any way, but his actions petrified me and I didn't get to sleep for another three hours. Even then, I was still fully dressed when I fell asleep. What is even stranger is that I'm not sure I could remember what he looked like. Even though I looked at him for a good long time.
Maybe he was being all creepy because it was Halloween. It wasn't funny though.

wow, scary! great story though, think of the entertainment potential in telling this to your grandchildren/friends.

good tip! perhaps if I tell enough people (and ham it up a bit) the story will eventually pass into urban legend??!!!
mooglebug.
ps. on a more serious note...there would have been a time when I would have kept quiet about what happened (which probably would have made it seem worse and more sinister) but I have found that talking about it has been really helpful and allowed me to put it in proper perspective!!! (okay, I know that's a really kind of "group huggy" thing to say..but hey, if it works, it works!)

you mean spreading creepiness through the interweb in a huggable way? sounds excellent to me! seriously, i get your drift. when i was a child, i used to listen to lots of ghost/creepy stories. that inevitably filled my imagination, and i remember there were several nights, i had these fits and was unable to move! (related to those stories in which the ghosts process human bodies so that the humans can't breath/move/scream.) still not sure how that happened, but it was really scary at the time.
