Out of curiosity I've just tried changing my 'skin' preference. I tried all options including Plain. I got the same error message every time - The following error occurred: An unknown error occurred.

It's a good job my preferred skin is Pliny or I'd be having problems too.smiley - tongueoutsmiley - winkeye

I'll rouse Tech - it's probably Ripley having a fit - thanks for pointing it out.

It should be back soon.

You can call me TC

Got it last night and this morning, but it's OK now, thanks Pastey.

I got the message "Disk is full" - You have the whole of h2g2 on ONE DISK?

haha Goo is back for me too.

I love the Disk full message. I really really wanted to send you all a 3.5" floppy that I found in a cupboard...

There is only one thing worse than being Gosho, and that is not being Gosho

BBC penny-pinching doncha know smiley - winkeye We're still getting to grips with it.

As a matter of fact I've got a question about the 'disk full' message. I only get it on my More Postings page. I can still go to any other page or conversation on h2h2, and if I want to check on updated threads I can still see my Conversations list or my own user space. Why would it only do that for one particular page?

That wasn't the case last night though - Ripley threw a complete wobbler and all the other pages offered the Unknown Error message.

When I got here this morning, THIS page was the only one I was having an issue with. I was getting the ever so helpful "An error has occurred: an unknown error has occurred."

It was a bit frustrating having one conversation in my Convos popup that I couldn't clear as read.

Obviously, it's all better now. smiley - biggrin

Believe me, you *really* don't want to know the hardware setup needed to run Ripley.

Pliny's a much different beast, proper scaling of Linux based servers, etc. Both Ripley and Pliny share the same database, and some APIs (but not many) that sit on another server.

Usually when Ripley goes down, it's because it's filled up with logging. The beeb loved to log everything, and the bit that does it is in compiled code somewhere, that we've not managed to find yet. We've got some scripts that just delete the logs, but we've been getting a bit busier recently, and have had to up the frequency that we delete smiley - smiley

you see, Pastey, I know that you are speaking English. But it might as well be Swahili or Klingon for all the sense that makes to me!

If you're still getting the errors, it's most likely down to wherever your cache is being sent from.

If you're getting the errors in Pliny, there's a bigger problem.

I'm still getting the errors in Goo, so if it is the cache, does that mean I have to turn it off and turn it back on again?

Post 17

Nah, the cache is handled by CloudFlare, so it'll sort itself out smiley - smiley
