I have definitely become immersed in h2g2. Got two guide entries submitted (Naturism and Normal, Illinois, USA), and then spent some time fine-tuning them to comply with Guide style sheets. Feeling pretty good about them. Put together the researcher ID proposal and a non-guide entry on Redbeard's brew. Hanging out a lot at the café and enjoying the company, and now starting to branch out and discover people in other ways as well.

Getting to know some wonderful people... I'm already enjoying chatting with Asteroid Lil, B-17, Anonymouse, Joanna, Ioreth, Courtesy 38. Starting to get to know Demon Drawer, somat willy, løøneytünes, and a few others and just enjoyed meeting Mike A.

People on my list to meet: Well, of course Irving Washington, since I've spent so much time at his places. Others that sound very interesting that I'd like to meet when I get a chance to introduce myself: Greebo (Me want meet her. Like cats) Krissy Lee (apparently has quite a theatre background, including DePaul and Shakespeare), Peta (just to get to know more about one of the people who keep this place humming).

Now if I can just balance my time on here in the background while I work on my current RL project of a 56-page program guide for the Illinois Shakespeare Festival, I may just survive.

Surviving is a good thing and should be encouraged. smiley - smiley

I guess so. But then that means there's even one MORE thing (surviving) that I've got to do, when I'm already quite busy. smiley - winkeye

On the other hand, not surviving definitely puts a crimp into getting anything else done.

I guess the trick is to survive naturally without spending a lot of time and energy TRYING to survive. smiley - smiley

Oh my I never thought of surviving as something extra one had to do..... eek!

*looks panicky. Remembers that this is not the place to panic. Loads the "don't panic" page*

As long as I make it to Wednesday I'm happy. Someday I'm going to come and visit Illinois...

Thankssmiley - smiley I'm going to need it...

The best cornfields? Where in Illinois would they be?

Actually, cornfields are all pretty much the same, which makes all of them the best cornfields, if you happen to like cornfields and I'm pretty indifferent about them, myself, but it means you only need go about 100 meters in any direction... and there you are.

Here, I made you something to help you get through tomorrow smiley - smiley

I think I can safely say that walking 1000 or maybe even 10 000 metres from my house will not yield you any cornfields at all...smiley - bigeyes

Okay so if I get a sudden urge to visit cornfields Illinois will be my first port of call. I have to confess Chicago being my primary motivation for taking a vague interest in your state; it has the two plus-points of VI Warshawski and ER...
(Joanna realises that most of ER is filmed in LAsmiley - winkeye)

Hi Redbeard!
It is good to hear that you are enjoying h2g2! Why not put the POST on your list of to-do's? Come and say hello to the gang who publish it every week and, maybe you will get the urge to write something for us one day. smiley - smiley

Hello, Shazz!

Thanks for the note. I have been to the Post and read most of the current issue. I think it's a great paper, and yes, I do have some interest in participating down the road. Vegiman already put a bug in my ear about volunteering some graphic work, and I like the idea about writing an article or two sometime. I'd definitely be interested in both areas... while figuring out how to balance everything else I want to do here smiley - smiley Oh, yeah, and keeping up IRL as well!

Yes, you could say I'm enjoying h2g2... if by that you mean I've already become obsessed! smiley - winkeye

Anyway, thanks very much for stopping by -- I've seen you around a lot, but hadn't really gotten the chance to say hi yet. I'll drop by the Post more often!

Wonderful smiley - smiley We are always pleased to welcome new contributors!
There is no pressure, no rush, just drop by when you have something and leave a message at my office smiley - winkeye
The words 'obsession' and 'h2g2' do seem to go hand-in-hand don't they! If you think that you are bad, spare a thought for those of us who have been here ( In my case ) almost a year! LOL
