Booyah!

I was looking in a mirror last night, and I began to wonder, what is it that people first notice about me? Is it my freckles? The gap in my teeth? The way my nose turns up? And do people really mean it when they tell me I'm cute? Or are they just trying to get on my good side?

Insecure people should not watch Meg Ryan movies. Her cuteness always makes me nervous.

There really can't be anything cuter than a freckled girl playing billiards.

I don't know...my dog Lager is pretty darn cute....but I guess that's a different kind of cute. To tell the truth, I think the guys were actually pretty impressed that I knew how to play billiards in the first place. They were also pretty impressed when I tried some of Greg's gin and tonic. (I'm *not* a drinking woman) I didn't enjoy it in the least, but they definitely enjoyed the look on my face.

When I was in college the closest off campus pool table was of the bumper pool type in a Lewiston Maine bar where most of the patrons spoke french and the girls were mostly all cute.

Quatre la biere s'l vous plait.

In high school I both played and (I expect some pool purists may object) often slept on the table in my best friend Peter's basement game room. Listening to Aerosmith mostly.

So- What's up with dragonfly on buttercup? the tatoo?
And please I'd like to read a poem from you.

I'm still pondering the tattoo. I don't know yet whether I want to scar my body for life. I'll be sure to let you know when I decide for sure.

I'm very....wary about sharing my poetry. I can be very sensitive to harsh criticism, so please, be kind.

I stand before you,
Long tendrils of hair
hanging
about
my
face,
Dandelion blush on my cheeks,
Freckled lips smiling
To reveal gapping teeth.
Chubby hands
With bitten nails
And band-aids
Tug awkwardly on the frayed hem of my shirt
While toes
With shipped polish
Peek from under the dragging cuffs
Of my grass-stained jeans.
You take it all in,
Smile,
And love me.

Wow, excellent thanks!
I have one with dandelions,

If I had my way I would wear pajama bottoms all day long. I have this unbelievably comfortable pair of plaid pajama bottoms that I wear as often as possible. I love them. I think I'm going to need a new pair soon, though, because I'm wearing them out.

This is really out of nowhere, but have you ever heard of a Bouche de Noel? (Also known as a Yule Log) It's a fabulously rich chocolate cake-like dessert. I'm going to attempt to make one to take to the Christmas party at work. I really hope it turns out.

I'd like to hear your poem with dandelions.

Yule logs are mondo yummy. I've made them a few times in the past, and they always get raves. Look for a recipe as rich as possible...buttercream frosting...thick cake. And don't forget the meringue mushrooms!

Hope I'm not butting in or anything...just wandered by thanks to your postings in the rubber band gun topic.

Yes I've had Bouche de Noel, I was surprised
for some reason that they actually look like logs.

I have some terrible news on the pajama bottoms,
if they look anything like sweatpants
I probably don't like them. Sorry.

Girls look good to me in dresses and skirts, even long ones,
short ones of course! Jeans yes again, grasstained or not,
any type, even silly embroided bellbottoms.
And for hanging about the house or flat,
a pretty girl should wear long teashirts, rugby or hockey jerseys.

I've tried but I just can't appreciate sweatpants or soccer shorts.

Hope we can still be friends.

The pajama bottoms just look like....well....plaid pants. Nothing like sweatpants. I'm not a big skirt girl, myself. I do wear them, and even *enjoy* wearing them on occasion. But most of the time it's under protest. I don't have any silly embroidered bellbottoms, but I do have a pair of dungarees and a pair of actual Navy pants, the wool bellbottoms with the 13 buttons. They're great. I love them. I also have a couple pairs of cargo pants, some windpants, and a pair of tearaways....you know, the ones with the buttons the whole way down the sides. I'm almost scared to wear those to work, because Greg (the one I was playing pool with) has threatened to come up behind me and rip them off. Come to think of it, I really have a lot of pants. And t-shirts. I also have a monkey named Spank, but that's totally off the topic.

I've never actually made a Bouche de Noel myself. My mom makes them. She's going to teach me. And how could I possibly forget the meringue mushrooms???

You're not butting in...drop in anytime! smiley - smiley

Thanks for not taking my last entry too seriously.
Once again I was thinking about something else entirely.
I'm glad to hear you occasionally enjoy skirts,
& the sailor pants sound cool.

How goes the shifting on your mom's Ford Tempo? Sorry,
I don't know the color or nickname of the stubborn car.

A monkey named Spank? I'm not falling for that.

Ah, nifty, an old family recipe. That saves me trying to remember which recipe I've used in the past that turned out so well. If it's family, I'm sure it's in the "more richer is better" school of cooking that leads to satisfaction & congestive heart failure around the holidays.

I do remember dusting the top with cocoa mixed with powdered sugar to simulate dirt & snow at the end of the whole process...

I haven't driven the Tempo since that last horrible incident. It has no nickname yet. Actually, other than Zippy, the last car anyone in my family had that they nicknamed was the Tank. It was this huge, incredibly ugly station wagon. I hated driving that thing. Now I drive a Subaru Legacy. Also a station wagon, but this one isn't nearly as big or ugly, and it actually has an FM radio and tape deck.

Ok, so my monkey named Spank is actually a stuffed animal, but it really is named Spank. I do, however, have a cat named Henson (after John Henson, former host of Talk Soup....she has a skunk spot on her back), and two dogs, Lager and Marcus.

Bonjour Buttercup,

Animals are great! Tell me more about yours sometime.

Meanwhile, did you know, I mean do you believe,
this last month is half over? Shit, I have stuff to do.
It's like over, does 2000 even still sound funny?
But I remember the 20th century fondly,
some of my best friends are from this millennium.

Great calenders this y2k, Monet & Van Gogh again but something new2.

Lager is a German shepard/wolf mix. We found him one day on our porch eating the cat food. My brothers were actually going to shoot him, because he wouldn't let them on the porch. Then they realized that he had porcupine quills in his neck, so they pulled them out, and after that he was nice. He got his name because he was drinking out of a cup of Lager that someone left beside their chair the day we found him. Or, should I say, the day he found us. Have you any animals?

I'm excited about the new year just because it means I get to change my calander. I got a really cool one, one of those with a page for each day, and it has Jeopardy trivia. You can keep score for the week and everything. (I'm *way* too easily amused sometimes.)

~I've shared my abode willingly with lots of other mammals, mostly small and cute. Tis(sic) a shame but never a shep, wolf or shepwolf. Although I did hear again on the tele(sic) how domestic dogs are directly descended from the wolf and only the wolf, so closely related genewise in fact that they are the same species still.
..so I had a black standard poodlewolf as a kid.
(Image of poodle in front of a goodfull moon. Howling, howlingheard.)

#Currently I have two very catlike cats; one lucky clever longhair named Amber with eyes and tail to match, and a fortunate black&white minipanther shorthair Hobbs(sic). Sadly just one Gerbil at present, black&fast. I've had three other great now late cats, and gerbils always, well just since fifth grade.

&I also quite like looking out at the birds and squirrels along the edge of the woods. Reminds me of the time the huge astroid hit the planet and those early gerbil like mammals warmsnugdeep in their burrows got the advantage on the then giantlizard now chirpybird dinosaurs.

?The question now is should I be stockpiling catfood and sunflowerseeds for the millennium crash?
