Well, I can now go out and be able to get all my errands done. If I put my feet up for a couple of hours, the swelling usually goes down all the way. And, cross my fingers, the bottoms of the scars on my legs have closed and haven't oozed in over a week. I think it's time to get back out there and work.

I got a couple of job notifications from the resume I have posted at California Institute of Technology. I've sent in applications for both of them. Usually, they take a while to process any apps, and you can be sure I'm not the only one who applied! The pay scale is very reasonable, and the most important thing, is that I think the place rocks! Any job in that place will *not* be boring, by definition.

I figure by the time they get back to me, I can be working temp again. The thing is, CalTech/JPL will not hire the unemployed. As explained to me by a jewel (truly!) of an HR guy, "We get so many apps, we have to have *some* way of filtering them down." That may sound harsh, but I really appreciated an honest answer, and I can definitely see their point. Besides, they *have* an agency that contracts to place temps with them. Go, me!

So, I'm off the see the wizards...soon! smiley - smiley

Good luck with that. A job you genuinely enjoy is worth a lot.

The leg problems after bypass surgery are so frustrating. I'm glad you're improving. smiley - hug

I hope I can get one of the positions at CalTech -- might even get to meet Chaucer, the dorm cat, sometime! Right now, it looks like half that campus is being remodeled; one of the openings is for Admin. Asst. to the Campus planning dept, so there's a load of work right there.

And there's also a couple more agencies that I haven't tried yet. Don't know if I should mention my recent health problems, with the new ones or the ones I haven't used in a while. I guess I'll just have to feel my way through that mine-field.

I figure if I can't get in at CalTech, next best thing would be a job in one of the highrises which shade my apt. in the afternoons. The commute would be short and sweet. smiley - winkeye
