Wish me luck....

Okay, so I went through my final audition for the Jazz Band this morning at 9:40.

Coming up in just a matter of minutes, I'm interviewing to be a DJ for the campus radio station.

Both of these positions could go either way....I could easily wind up with either, neither, or both.

And with a schedule as jam-packed as I've got it, I honestly don't know what I want (other than the fact that I really, really, really want to be in the Jazz band again).

As usual prayers, thoughts, well-wishes, and mysterious accidents for the competition are encouraged....well, maybe not that last one....

Golden Grudgie!!!

I cannot believe it....

I am the recipient of the most recent Gold Medal Response Of The Week Grudgie from Grudge-Match! Check out http://www.grudge-match.com/History/pacman-tribbles.shtml#results and scroll down just a bit, I'm the first responder!

Okay, I think that I've finally acheived just about everything that I can at that site now. I've had at least two bronze Grudgies, I've had a final word Grudgie, and now I've got a Golden Grudge. All I need now is to get a Silver Grudgie, and then a custom-made award of some sort to have run the full gambit!

Ah, what a great day to be a fan of senseless violence between significant pop-culture icons....smiley - evilgrinsmiley - sillysmiley - biggrinsmiley - cool

Another year, another kajillion dollars....

So, Year Two dawns....needless to say, I only have one textbook so far, and that's a copy of The Poetics that only cost $1.50. All the others were bought online, second-hand.

Can't say that I'm looking forward to the "Individual Excercise" class that I'm required to take. I mean, would it be so hard to have Martial Arts, Fencing or Mountain Climbing as PE credit options? Those are the types of sport that I'm *good* at. And I'm pretty sure that I won't be playing Calvin Ball (oh, what a glorious PE class that would be).

That, plus I need to get another class. I mean, I really, really need one. I only have just enough to legally qualify as a full-time student, and there's no way that'll keep me on track for both majors (Creative Writing and Computer Sciences).

Still, it won't be all bad. I've got two English classes, one in generic literature (gotta admit that I love that, even if we'll primarily be reading things that I've read before, like The Canterbury Tales), and one in Writing For Stage And Screen (finally, I'll know the exact procedures for hammering out movie/play scripts). That, plus I did a solo audition for Jazz Band, and I feel like I did really well. I NEVER feel like I do well at non-vocal music auditions, so I'm either going to be in this band, or taken completely by surprise. Should be neat to see how it all works out after the Group/Ensemble auditions with the rest of the Jazz Band Member Hopefulles on Thursday.

Anyway, wish me luck, keep me in your prayers, and hope that I survive the first week or two or three without books.

Woo-Hoo!

Rareware has just issued their most recent "Tepid Seat" page. This edition of the Tepid Seat pertains to questions that people may have about Rare's recent, current, and upcoming Game Boy Advance games. Lots of info for the fans of Rare. And I'm saving my favorite bit of news for last (may interest you "Affy Trackers" out there as well).

-First thing on the coolness digest....it seems that the new SabreWulf game (an update of a game from the 1980's) was, at one point, going to have a picture-in-picture feature that would let you watch the 'Wulf as it chased you. That would've been cool. Ah, the stuff that could have been....

-As expected, there aren't any new Donkey Kong games on the GBA in sight for Rare. It's sad that Rare won't be able to keep making the newer Donkey Kong games for the Console systems ever since they were purchased by Microsoft, but it's nice to hear that there doesn't seem to be any bad blood between the three companies. It's theoretically possible that we may see some new ones on the handheld systems from Nintendo (as long as Microsoft doesn't get a handheld gaming system), but they've gotta finish off the conversions of all the Donkey Kong Country games to the GBA first. It's also nice to see that the folks at Rare don't think that Nintendo is botching Donkey Kong (and lets face it....if not for Rare, Donkey Kong wouldn't be nearly the mega star that he is now). Maybe I should give Donkey Konga a chance....though I'd need to buy a GameCube first....

-Finally, an explanation for why "Banjo-Kazooie: Gruntilda's Revenge" didn't have any flying.

-AND NOW, MY INTEREST LEVEL PIQUES! Somehow, someway, they deemed a question that I sent in to be worthy of being Q6 on the page. On the one hand, I'll forever have the bragging rights for being the one who revealed that the upcoming Banjo-Pilot only featured Banjo characters (and I was so looking forward to flying a plane as Juno or Sabreman or Mr. Pants). However,....Why oh why oh why didn't I ask them why "Gruntilda's Theme" was absent from Grunty's Revenge? Oh, what a fool I've been....

But aside from that lament, it seems that all is well on the Rare front. And with the recent discovery of a website URL reserved for a game called "Banjo-Threeie" that links up to the Rareware homepage, I feel confident that next year's E3 convention will show us a few very nice surprises for whatever the next X-Box is.
