Ask Me One About Fish...

So, who am I?

Well, I was born in 1963 and was educated at two “fantastic schools”, as David Cameron would call them.

They were both private boarding schools.

I have calculated that the time I spent at boarding school is six and a half years out of twelve which is the equivalent of a prison sentence for armed robbery, with time off for good behaviour.

I cannot imagine what drove my parents to send me to boarding school and I will not be inflicting it on my daughter.

Anyway, it didn’t do me any particular harm as far as I can tell, I hate Sunday evenings and I’m seen as a bit of a toff by my work colleagues, but otherwise I’m normal…I think.

I am the lead singer in an amateur rock and roll band called “Four Play”. We have done a few gigs for friends. The band consists of me, my brother and my brother’s brother and father in-law. It was a bit of dream of mine to be in a band and it’s great fun to play together but we don’t do it anywhere near enough.

I used to be a keen amateur dramatist but since my daughter arrived it’s been hard to find the time to do this. I hope to get back to it someday.

I am a bit of a writer and have had some of my stuff performed in comedy reviews. I’d really like to write a book. I have some ideas that are slowly forming into hard copy but what with all my other interests it is hard to buckle down and get on with it.

I am extremely fond cricket, something which I also stopped doing actively when my daughter arrived.

Listening to music, all kinds, when I am in my car, on the train and walking about is my most common pass time. I have a very mixed taste from very early classical to really modern stuff. The emphasis I suppose is more in the two guitars, bass, drums and some keyboards and vocals department. Favourite bands are Genesis (most of whom went to the same “fantastic school” as me), Pink Floyd, David Bowie and Supertramp. But play me anything by any band or artiste and I’ll probably nod along and tap my feet with enjoyment.

I have just started playing golf and my best score so far is 116. I am very proud of this score as it was raining and blowing a gale at the time. I really enjoy playing golf and spend most of my time trying to find people who are as bad as me to play with.

My main reason for taking up golf is that I work in an industry where not much work goes on in the summer and everyone bumps up their holiday entitlement with corporate golf days. I was sick of turning up for work in August to find that the whole of the rest of team was out with their clients hitting golf balls. So now I’m one of them.

That’s about it for the moment.

Any questions?
