Hi

Happy Saint Patrick's Day!
... Or is that about *another* island...?
What? There are *several* islands in the world?!!
So, badminton's definitely better than cricket, hey?
The open evening was fine. We (language teachers, all together in an IT language lab) saw about 15 people. 8 of whom were lost or just looking around, and the others were only interested in the European Class option (that's a class were they have more English and one other subject is taught partly in English). So we have more than enough time to read our email, answer it, and correct tests...
Dinner was pasta. And mousse for dessert.
Hope you had a nice weekend.
We had a lovely service on Saturday night for Palm Sunday.
I'll be around this afternoon. (It's 9:50ish here).
Hi

Good evening to you from a stormy tropical island
We are getting ready for a long long weekend begins with (maunday) thursday, for us catholics, isn't that absolutely divine?
Just imagine if our guys got to know of St. Patrick's Day ........ why it'll be another holiday !!!!
I am glad the open evening went off so nicely!!!
These days I have to sneak off and have additional refreshments due to the various Holy Week sacrifices my home folks insist on.
Must plan something wild for Easter Sunday!!!
Anyway, I will be around H2G2 with all you lovely people.
oop's, not permitted
Best regards,
DS

Good afternoon from Europe!
Do you mean to say that these are holidays too?!
Do you have egg-hunts too? Here, the bells leave during Maundy Thursday mass, and they go to Rome to be blessed by the Pope. Then, on Easter Sunday, they come back, bringing chocolate eggs!
And children go out in the garden to hunt for the eggs!
Does it work the same there in Sri Lanka?
is good too!
Hi
SD HA Posted Mar 17, 2008
Yes madame, four of them from Maunday Thursday to Easter Sunday About the bells, I did not know that, is it done only in your part of France?
The egg hunt is done by the very young kids, but, chocolate eggs are enjoyed by all !!!
I am waiting for the roasted wild boar leg this sunday. Do you have a family lunch on Easter Sunday?
Hi
Superfrenchie Posted Mar 17, 2008
It's done in most of France I think. But in Alsace, they have the Easter Bunny, of course, because they're so close to Germany; it makes much more sense!
Also in December in the northeast and the east of France, we have Saint Nicolas coming and bringing sweets and chocolates to children.
Yes, we do have a family lunch. My aunt from Paris and my uncle and aunt from Reims are coming and so are my brother and sister.
My mum usually makes an Easter paté (meat paté in a crust, with boiled eggs in it), generally eaten on Saturday night, and a lamb-shaped lemon sponge cake for the Sunday.
There's no rule about the rest of the menu.
In Alsace, they have Good Friday off; that's because France cancelled it as a holiday while Alsace was still German. So they still have it!

How unsporting no holiday for Good Friday.
So, you will have a lovely time on Easter Sunday. Here too it's a family occasion.
Will you be exchanging presents for Easter? Over here the closest of friends and relations do.
Hi
Superfrenchie Posted Mar 17, 2008
No presents for Easter, no.
We sometimes exchange chocolates, of course, but that doesn't really count, since they're offered by the bells!!
I need to now, drop my things at home and go to the pub.
I'll be having fruit juice.
See/read you tomorrow!
Hi
Superfrenchie Posted Mar 18, 2008
It was nice enough, thnak you!
I had a Welsh rarebit, which the waiter insisted on calling a "Welsh rabbit"
I got home rather early, because I had some w*rk to do; I still only got to bed around midnight so I'm really tired now!
But the good thing is, I've finished my working day!
So I could go home now and have a nap!
... But first I'll have a (quick) look at my emails, and pop in HooToo, and ... Oh, darn, seven pm already!
Hi
SD HA Posted Mar 18, 2008
Young Lady,
Checked out "welsh rarebit", I love a variation of it - Cheese Toast (or is it the same?).
I can see you work very hard, once every now and again please make it a point to have absolute fun !!!
Just got back from ......... yes, you guessed it, badminton !!!! of course there was a detour on the way back home!!! nudge nudge wink wink ..... say no more !!!
You like badminton more than cricket ??? ...... then, I have completely failed to explain cricket to you properly.
Hope you have a peaceful nap and be in top form tomorrow.
See you,
Best Regards,
DS
Hi

Hello!
I did have a very nice nap, and was feeling so good last night that I went to the cinema. It was "Spring of the Cinema", so the tickets were half price
I'm feeling fine now, thank you.
Didn't mean to offend you / make you sad / hurt you with the badminton-cricket remark.
I'll be around later today.
See/read you!

Hi

Good Afternoon to you, (It's night here)
"Spring of the Cinema"? didn't catch that.
Ofcourse not!!! you are quite right, I was only joking, even I find the old game slightly (ever so slightly) boring at times.
Now that the F1 season's started I will be in a high state of excitement.

Hi

Vroooooom, then?
I'm not very much interested in sports, I'm afraid...
Today at teacher school, we've learnt that the most important thing when you first meet your class is EYE CONTACT.
Yes. Good. This is March, we first met our class in September. Should we feel there is a kind of problem here? Otherwise, it's rather interesting, though. We're working on eye contact, body language, and we're going to work on voice and text this afternoon.
"Spring of the cinema" is an event we had here every year; in most cinemas, around March 15-20. It's cool.
Hi
SD HA Posted Mar 21, 2008
Mlle. SF, (is that correct?)
Eye contact and body language can mislead. These behavioral signals also vary from country to country.
Soon, you'll be analysing everybody, luckily we escape that scrutiny.
Going back to "Spring of the cinema", is it like a film festival where they screen films on a particular subject or do you get to see the latest films? Have you seen "La Vie en rose"?
Regards,
DS
