Shows the challenge of studying history, that it is very tempting to superimpose preconceived 'modern' ideas onto the past...
I also found this story interesting http://www.sciencemag.org/news/2020/07/ramps-disabled-people-trace-back-ancient-greece - I didn't know that Greek temples often had ramps, whether to help disabled people or for other reasons. I visited Greece in 2000 and enjoyed following some of the footsteps of Alexander the Great, but I wasn't able to get very close to any temples. Certainly the two or three early-20th-Century replicas I have seen (like this one A87862198 ) made no attempt to include ramps!
