<b>sambal</b>
<BR/>A volatile substance. It is said to be edible. This is a myth. Unless you are SE-Asian, when of course sambal will be integrated into your mashed peas and strained carrots from infanthood. In fact sometimes they aren't even carrots at all, but some version of sambal.
<BR/>Cooking sambal requires a wok, spatula, gas mask, and is preferably done at the end of ten-foot utensils in another room by someone else.
<BR/>Otherwise it's usually all right to have sambal prawns wrapped in pandan leaves.
<p>
<b>durians</b>
<BR/>Only endearing to its fans. Spiky green fruit which splits to reveal pulpy caramel fleshy fruit wrapped around large white seeds. Can be detected over the border by smell alone.
<BR/>Harvesting means waiting through long humid nights for the ripe fruits to drop. It is not wise to stand under a durian tree during the season.
<BR/>I'm not a fan.
<p>
<b>sepang grand prix</b>
<BR/>The circuit rocks (second-hand account).
<BR/>Female: bring sunscreen to protect skin.
<BR/>Male: bring binos to see female skin.
<BR/>Both genders: forget grandstand seats and go sit on the grass. You'll get to see almost all of the track, the food costs less, you can bring a tent and supplies and no one will look at you, hell, they'll even ask to take photos with you if you look abnormal enough.
<BR/>And wear the earplugs, no matter how nice they look in their little capsules. It's not funny watching an MIG scream overhead and getting the sound a few seconds later as a wallop in the skull.
