That can be fixed, at least somewhat. I've been experimenting with substituting lower-calory flour for the higher-calory stuff. The downside is that the resulting doesn't taste quite the same.
Another option is to gradually make your pieces smaller, in increments of 2 or 3 millimeters.

Take away the little man's eyeglasses, so the slightly smaller piece of will look the same size as the slice he's used to.

I can't define it all that well, but here are some examples.
--Don't lose your footing to the extent that you slip and a huge rock falls on your hand.
--Don't lose your footing and fall into an enormous lemon meringuw pie.
