I'm bloody pinned to the floor by my own laughter.
After dinner, my mother wanted me to remove this thing from her arm, and she asked for my help, calling me Boobie.
"Boobie!??" I laughed. "What!?? Why you calling me Boobie!??"
She said that British people do it all the time in movies.
Really!??

Don't know what movies your ma-ma watches, but as a habitant of afore mentioned isles, I never called anyone a boobie and I never seen anyone called a boobie in the movies. The only boobies I know are the ones that clatter about our house - and those that are involved in childcare.

me thinks ...
your mother needs David Letterman to translate from Brittish English to American English. David should know, because he studied British English and concluded that is very different English.

YAY!!!! sgt
Well.... I think... no, I know, that my mother's losing her mind. I think calling me Boobie was a strange Freudian slip and she used the Brits as a cop-out. She would have been safer using some other world population, but no.
Or maybe she was drunk.

Well, Julie Andrews is British, isn't she?
In the film "S.O.B.," she got drunk and then talked about exposing her "boobies," but I don't think she was drunk enough to mistake her boobies for people. But then, I don't know for sure.

You like Julie Andrews quite a bit, Pauly....
Oh and Gosho... Mom wasn't calling me Boobie because my breast was on her arm. Not a chance. I'm not nearly that big. Silly!!!!
Oh.... parents are forcing me to attend the daft graduation ceremony, in which it takes twenty minutes just for all of the candidates for graduation to take part in the procession. Mad. Two hour ceremony alltogether, and you don't even get that piece of paper that says you have graduated...

Anyway, boobie is just as much an American word as an English one... maybe more! I think in the UK people are more likely to just say 'boob'. And I'm thinking of that episode of Family Guy where the Griffins go to have dinner with a family of nudists, and on the way home Chris sits in the back of the car saying 'boobies' every ten seconds

I'm being forced to graduation too D. Whereas with ours, you have to preorder photos which may or may not be rubbish
You also have to be there two hours early... half 7am?

Well, there's the old saying (as old as Rocky and Bullwinkle, that is ): Don't count your boobies until they're hatched.
I couldn't attend my college graduation because I was out of the country at the time.
Yes, Dragonfly, I like Julie Andrews a lot. Blake Edwards is a lucky man!

OH MY LORD!!!!
I'm sorry...
At least there isn't a photo issue...
I got my class ring on Tuesday, but I am pretty sure they fouled it up. The side that says "BA" should have the English side under it.... but it has the History side under it... so the side I want to see all the time, the English side, has the year 2004 above it. That can't be right... I'll call them.
Blah.
Oh well, Sgt... we'll survive the dern ceremony... when is yours!??
(I'm just pissed off because I could be taking one of two roadtrips I quite want to take!!!! Instead, I'll be at finals on Wed and then the next Tuesday, have to bother with graduation. And I'm off work... so I can focus on the freelance stuff... ::sigh:
