A race

The first race is just around the corner. A light hearted, good spirited fell run to the top of a fairly large, steep hill belonging to a range in Shropshire known as "The Roaches". Always held in the cold of mid-late-December, "The Christmas Cracker" is a regular fixture, with free beer for every entrant.

As for me, after the self-imposed rest over last weekend, and the self inflicted wounds of Tuesday I had a good, quick but short, run on Wednesday and a moderately energetic game of squash. Too much to eat at a Christmas party last night. Tonight I'll do some long, slow (90 minutes) just to get some distance into my legs, and as a penance for all those fajitas.

More running, and the pain of hill reps

Almost at the end of the first week, and today is a rest day. Sunday was the first of my "long runs", up Black Bank and through the very picturesque Scott Hay, where I managed to trip over a bit of ornamental kerbing and go arse over tit. Bugger. Yesterday, though, I went out with some better runners and we ran up and down a short hill. Repeatedly. My thighs were absolute murder last night, but by this morning the pain had slipped down my leg into my ankles. Couldn't face cycling into work so I gathered together my laundry and went for the bus...

Got a date for my PhD viva. Its monday. Eeek.

Running Entry 1

Ran the local route known only as "Long Silverdale". Pissing down with rain and my radio would only pick up Signal, the local commercial pop station. Not a bad run, not good, but probably a pretty good platform on which to build...

Lovely Fluffy Sums

Sums all work in a surprisingly groovy way. The amount of bother that can be caused by accidentally using a lower case 'k' rather than an upper case 'K' in a bit of code is somewhat scary.

But thats another point for me. Gaz 1 Computers 7
