its been cold and wet today, but drizzle only

if you sent to the blueyonder, i should be at the cyber tomz(tuesday)if active one, there was nothing in the box yet.

ive been at the library most of the day, looking for families that have died for people, then the births, and hopefully will lead to the marraiges.

ive found one ive been looking for for ages, i had 1920, and it turned out to be 1930,s and a second person in the same grave in 1975, i need to go to the library agin tomz to see who it is, with the date1975, month and the day, i will have it in less than 5 mins lol

then i will head over the road to the cybercafe for a few hrs jim

no, i do searches for friends and mates if they ask me, ive been doing them for over 4 yrs now,maybe longer.

all the info is at the library, and on the pc, but its better to search the fiches, they are more accurate than the pc is sometimes, ie the latterday saints free ones, they are always upto 3 or 5 yrs out.

i have acsess to the bradford archives, the electrol rolls for streets and so on. the censuses.
-
even the newspapers on rolls so i can browse for a year fo the deaths, births and marraiges, or anything else thats needed.

if you have read the ew277 ww2 guide, that took me over 10 months to reseach with helpers,

there are still two people/peices to find, but ive had to rethink, or see if anyone comes back to me on the forums i watch ie, raf command. jim

How absolutely fascinating !!!! Over here you can never do such a study as everything's a muddle.

Furthermore, due the tropical climate most records, on paper, tend to perish within a few decades. I understand they have air-conditioned vaults these days to preserve the archived documents.

I will visit ww2 guide one of these days.

i am still a bit limited in some ways.

we have the england and wales fiches from 1837 to 1985, for b,d, and marraiges. the scottish have there own, the irish is a shambles, if you can find many,
-
there are some rescued ones, but scattered and to many gaps.
-
i win about 8 in 10 times, but never 100%.

we have a disc of all the forces that where killed in the ww1, and a disc for the ww2, but not 100% again.

It must be quite thrilling to actually read records entered as far back as the mid 1800's.

How far back, do the records go?

Have you ever come across documents signed by historic personages?

not that you would know at the time, but some births that start from 1837 to nowadays, will be lords, ladies, and the prime misters, ie m thatcher.

people from all walks of life.

as some people use an alias, if you know the date, the real name of say a singer, cliff richards, (harry web) and if they are born inengland or wales, or scotland, then they are at birth just a normal baby.to a normal mother.

there are in most towns, parish records that go back to the 16,17 centuries. even a town like bradford as records, you can see from as far back as 1700,s

the cnsus are only from 1841, every 10 yrs, to 1901, it as to be 100 yrs till the next one 1911, which is due out this year
-
in each town is the electrol rolls(actually books) from 1837 to 2000, with the war years missing in parts.
-
now the the rolls are no longer on the library shelf for 2000 on, the new privacy laws
-
you can find a name of say, a celeb as he or she was born, and go to a register office and from £7 get a copy of the cert,
-
hope this gives you an insight to the way you can get any info, thats there to be found, in any town with a good library,

the main records of births, deaths,and marraiges are avaliable at all main libraries in england and wales, the scottish ones in scotland, and any of ireland still to be found here and there. jim

yep im still about, but a week back i thought, other than the acsess to a pc at the cybercafe, i wouldnt be able to get h2g2.

im digibox went kaput on the 20th nov, and i got a new one a few days back, but at first it said no emails, but after 24 hrs, they came back phew. jim
