I was browsing my old "chocolate teapot" entry today, after accidentally writing over it in a fit of pique with the editors.

I came across your forum postings, suspended in limbo though they are, and thought I'd pop across and say Hi!

So here it is.

I enjoyed the Bastard entry by the way. Let me know what the subs do with it and whether you get to be on the front page.

Oh well, must go. Many congrats in anticipation of your being online again. I've just reconnected after an absence of several months so I sympathesize with how it must be. (H2G2 contributors don't have holidays, BTW, the do field research. Don't you think we should be paid for doing field research?)

Thanks for...um...for what?...hmmm...enjoying my entry, I guess--and saying so. Yikes, I can't believe they still haven't gotten to it. But if you want me to let you know what happens to it, you may have to remind me. I have a notoriously bad memory for these things.

Paid "vacations," hmmm? Interesting notion. Think we should propose it to the editors?

Oh, one question: Do you bash strags on a regular basis, or do you prefer to try and convert them?

Well I wrote an entry to try and convert them.

3 months later they got around to editing it and cut out all the good bits.

So then I wrote an angry little article (over the top of the chocolate teapots thing) and changed my name to stragbasher.

My bashings are purely verbal, unlike the bashings I give my computer when it decides it doesn't want to work any more.

I think I already raised the question of getting paid for field research, but I think they prefer to do their research without leaving their offices, so I don't have a lot of hope.

So where have you been anyway?

Verbal bashings are the way to go, I always think...it's a lot harder to get in trouble that way, and there's so much more room for creativity. Anyway, where I've been is on vacation, at home where I don't have Net access. Ho-hum.
