The Effects of Wine
Posted Oct 29, 2004
Wine is a glorious invention; I prefer Chardonnay. But it can have quite an effect on you. I've compliled a brief list below.
- It gets you drunk, obviously. But it is very different from beer or liquor. It's almost akin to a hallucinogenic.
- I tend to 'black out' from drinking wine. It is very common for me to wake up in places that I don't recall being at after a stint with wine.
- My dreams, after drinking wine, tend to take on a more adventurous nature. I'd have to describe them as being a lot of fun.
- I wake up dumb. This would seem to be an undesirable effect, but refer to next item.
- I wake up happy. I have a feeling that this is directly tied to the previous item.
All in all, I'd have to give wine a big thumbs up. Sure, it costs a little more. And a footed glass gets harder to deal with as the night goes on. But if it was good enough for Socrates, it's good enough for me.
Cheers!

Robots
Posted Oct 27, 2004
You know, robots would be so much more interesting if they were like the ones portrayed in books and movies.
Take the Staubli arm, for example. This thing is a highly advanced, well-refined machine. But it has no character of it's own. Sure, the damn thing could be stubborn, though it doesn't seem to mind when I erase it's memory and tell it to start over.
And not once has it replied with a 'your welcome' after I thank it for completing a run. Of course, it may be attempting to do so, but I would never know.
Anyway, the one system I'm working with now has both robots and lasers. Got the makings for some extraordinary adventures, wouldn't you say? Hardly.
This topic is far from finished.

Guide Entries
Posted Oct 22, 2004
I have yet to submit an entry into the guide. This is because I wish any contribution to have substance. However, I do have ideas for future submissions. They include:
Old Forge, PA - The Pizza Capitol of the World
-This exremely small town has an extremely large reputation for the quality of its pizza. Any traveller passing through should be aware of this gem.
The Pineal Gland - Rene DesCartes is a well respected icon both in the field of Mathematics and Philosophy. He held a dualist viewpoint concerning the human element. This is showcased in his explanation of the function of the pineal gland. The ridiculousness of this concept is something that should be shared with all.
