Hello, Metal Chicken. I read your recent post regarding HMN Chaiwallah's (U219914) excellent 'Tibet - Why the Chinese are There', and thought you might be interested in seeing what we're up to at h2g2 Friends of Tibet.
Originally conceived as simply a meeting place, h2g2 Friends of Tibet is an attempt to put together a useful resource that will give h2g2 Researchers easy access to other sources of information, and equip them with some quick and effective ways to get involved... as well as providing a convenient spot to chat, of course.
Please take a look and let me know what you think - A2170982.

Hi JTG,
Thanks for popping over. That's an excellent page full of information and links I want to follow up on when I get the time.
When I came back from my travels in Tibet and other parts of Asia years ago I immediately joined the Free Tibet campaign people and Amnesty International. For all people tell you what's going on in the world, there's nothing like seeing it for yourself and talking to people who are affected for jolting you into some level of action. I'm still with AI but not very active these days. I really must start writing campaign letters again at the least - one voice really can make a difference sometimes.

Thanks. I'm still saving my pennies for a trip to Asia. In the meantime, we're lucky to have quite a large Tibetan community nearby in Toronto.
I've been involved with some AI letter writing, too. People who shrug and say 'well, what can I do' really haven't given it much thought. As you say, one voice really can make a difference.
A friend recently told me that he had received an email from China thanking him for the Dalai Lama photos on his website. It just goes to show how far the ripples extend sometimes.
