Hi future A.E.T. I presume, you can't buy it over here so I suggest you should carry a large jar with you.
Brown sauce could help too.Nothing like carrying a little bit of home with you

Future ET only, no A, not that I don't feel I'd be better off with one...
Don't actually care for marmite all that much so I think I'll leave it at home. I'm a bit more worried about how I'm going tofit all I need into the meagre-sounding luggage allowance. Hey ho.
Where are you living? What's it like?

If you have a driving license make sure its international I suggest getting a scooter here most ets do second hand very handy.
North of tokyo can get cold in the winter south is warm can be hot today here its 34 n not summer yet
we get about 80 days when the temp doesn't go below 30 day or night
People here are usually friendly but there is a class cystem ie older people are always correct n they will avoid saying no you'll get used to it but can be annoying
Try not to be too cheap appearing but second hand is ok when furnishing an apart

I'm going to be living in Kanto, not sure exactly where, probably the Tokyo suburbs. I apparently will get a (somewhat) furnished apartment. That's virtually all I know about my living arrangements... I know a bit more about the job but that's all teachery stuff.
Please add me as a friend if you like; thanks.

So when are you coming to Japan ?
Don't know if you like japanese food but you may consider carrying an english cookbook
There are a few american supermarkets in Tokyo and a costco in chiba .
May I ask what company you will be working for ?
This may sound crazy but slip on shoes are best over here cause your always taking them on and off and it can be difficult buying anything bigger than an english size 9 here too.

I should be in Japan three weeks from today. Still thinking about the food situation and giving serious thought to the shoes situation as well - I'm about a size 11 but I don't want to bring too many pairs over as they really bite into your weight allowance.

When I travel I always put the heavy stuff in my carry on backpack cause you don't really carry it and it doesn't count in your weight allowance .

One other piece of advice that Iv'e heard often happens at least with aets,
If you are asked before xmas about renewing your contract in the summer say yes then you can always change your mind .
If you say no they will start looking for a replacement you won't be able to change your mind then you will have to go home come summer.
