Oh is that the craic now
~ jwf ~ scribblo ergo sum Started conversation Sep 16, 2002
Howdy,
Before I forget and go on to my main point, I wanna say Thanks for using the word 'craic' and (somewhere) explaining its meaning and pronunciation. As a Coronation Street fan I often heard 'Jim McDonald' use the word and thought of course he was saying 'crack' in some strange way. Now I know!
Now to business:
You will recall offering advice to a potential suicide. Considering the intent and circumstances of that posting, it was a clear, concise and brilliantly effective piece of writing. I have long thought that if I were ever to face a friend or acquaintance in a similar situation, I would print out a copy of your wisdom and hand it to them.
But to the point:
I now intend to send your wisdom further out into the world where it may do more good. It will reach a wider audience with its message in the final (#42) issue of AggGag in about three weeks time. I have lifted it from the conversation and created an entry on my homepage - currently called "blank (under construction)".
My question then:
Shall I publish your name as the authour or simply state that it is from an anonymous source, found nailed to a door like 'The Desiderata'? Credit where credit is due I always say.
Usually, we at <./>AGGGAG</.> don't give a monkeys about the feelings or opinions of writers we steal from, but I felt in this case it was only proper to seek permission to identify you. Or not. It's your call.
Who knows, you might want to give it a title and create your own entry (to which we would link). Or, considering the possibility you don't even wanna think about it, you may just ignore me, in which case I will simply publish it anonymously.
Be assured that I have no intention of identifying the recipient party in question or connecting to the original thread. I will make no editorial comment on that particular situation. I will simply state that in my opinion this is good solid advice which readers will find useful and applicable should they ever get involved in any similar situation.
Hoping I have said nothing to disturb or offend
and further hoping to remain your friend,
peace

Posted to the indicated article. Thanks for the compliment
My posting was a white heat response at the time. I hope the effect of the cold shower was at least as great as the sentiments that followed it.
Craic is a lovely word. Most Irish men are lovely (except Roy keane), most of Ireland is lovely(except....) and the other son seems to have found another lovely Irish woman. Still prefer Scotch whisky, though.
Lady Bracknell is getting to me; I keep saying "I do not approve of" whatever, which is not, I think, in my character.

*This seems to be our latest dangling conversation thread...*
I have started assembling my next issue of CAC, even though I'm not due for another couple of weeks, just in case one of the others misses a deadline.
And, I have made promises elsewhere, where someone commented on your eloquence, that CAC will be featuring you again shortly.
So... when you're ready with the HK article you are working on, please, let me know where to find it.

The CAC CONTINUUM - The ongoing adventures of the Committee for Alien Content (a division of AggGag) Posted Nov 29, 2002
I'm logged on as <./>AGGGAG</.>CAC to put together next week's issue and I'm still saving room for the HK piece your were working on.
Let me know soon.
Otherwise it'll be another five weeks before it's my turn to 'edit' the CAC again. And yes, of course, I'd be happy to include it then if it's more convenient.
Lemme know.

*testing to see if this conversation pops to the top of your list - you have several much more current - perhaps you are no longer subscribed to this one*

You are definitely not subscribed to replies from your introduction.
I started another thread there ("Oi you!") and it didn't come up as 'current' either. But it does appear as a conversation under your intro. If you don't see either of these soon, I'll have to jump into some other conversation, like the curious one about the film crew on your stairs... Are you sure there was no piano...?
